Analyzing the song:
You can surely tell what the song is about by watching the fantastically directed MV. It talks about a girl who randomly meets a guy who she fall in love with, however, the twist is that she is still in love with another guy at war or is away in the army. She believes that he will one day return by her side and they would live happily ever after. The ironic thing about the MV is that she sings I still believe he will return and at the MV she stays with the other guy. Does this mean if the other guy return there will be a love triangle? That’s just a guess, but I do believe that the guy in the army is dead and she can’t give up his love therefore rejects the new lover.

Thoughts:
Like I’ve said before I absolutely adore this song. The lyrics are simple yet straight-forward and amazing. Her vocals are fascinating and she looks fantastic! The MV is done quite nicely (best out of all the MV Thuy Nga have ever made.) The storyline was interesting as well. I thought it song was perfect for the theme of PBN 89 in Korea because it is in Korea. Great job Ho Le Thu for choosing and translating such a great song!

Most modern: Minh Tuyet vs. Bao Han

From the glittering top to the sexy jeans Minh Tuyet looks modern and hip; a bit simple yet still sexy. Both ladies look sizzling from top to bottom, but I just think Bao Han clothes arrangement were slightly better. The black tux over white under-shirt and red pants matches and blend so well together. Fabulous job Bao Han!

Most glamorous: Y Lan vs. Ho Le Thu

Both Y Lan and Ho Le Thu looks wonderful in either their gown. Y Lan in a black overall dress while Ho Le Thu sparkles and dazzles in her scale gown. Even though they both looks great I have to give the title to Y Lan since black is always the best and will be the best color for gowns.

Blue goddess: Thuy Tien vs. Quynh Vi

Quynh Vi looks glamorous in the blue/aqua dress which shows her curves and asset perfectly while Thuy Tien sizzle in a short skirt/dress/shirt thing. The dress presents her pair of legs perfectly (a plus). However, the winner is still Quynh Vi since Thuy Tien’s dress is quite ugly and not in fashion anymore.

Best tail: Huong Giang vs. Van Quynh

Obviously Van Quynh is the winner between her outfit and Huong Giang since her is more simple yet sophisticated and fun. Huong Giang huge pink ruffles tail seems too much and overcrowd. If they would have cut of slice it up in layers it would have look much better. Along side from that Huong Giang look so old with the hairstyle and I’m glad Van Quynh has long wavy hair again because she looks very pretty.

Young tradition: Huong Thuy vs. Tam Doan

I like both ‘ao dai’ worn by Huong Thuy and Tam Doan. The white, simple ‘ao dai’ on Huong Thuy makes her look so innocent and cute while Tam Doan; who also looks cute in a green/purple flower ‘ao dai’. Even though the dresses make them look innocent, they seem to look old some how. If I have to pick between the two I would pick Huong Thuy’s since her is simpler and I think that the simpler an ‘ao dai’ is, the better.

Old tradition: Khanh Ly vs. Huong Lan

No doubt Huong Lan’s ‘ao dai’ was better because of the red velvet designs. Yes, Khanh Ly solid brown ‘ao dai’ is sinple, but it’s too simple which makes it look cheap. Therefore I pick Huong Lan red designs on see-through black dress.

Best hanbok: Hoai Linh vs. Ky Duyen

I find these Korean hanbok to be very pretty and cute. Hoai Linh looks beautiful in it even though he’s a man; which is quite weird. Ky Duyen looks stunning! From the hair to the dress it fits her so well. The only different between the two was that Hoai Linh’s bow is white while Ky Duyen’s is red. I actually like the red more since it doesn’t blend into the top like Hoai Linh’s. I also think the bow in Ky Duyen fits with the dress more then the hair piece in Hoai Linh’s.

Best without a theme: Nhu Quynh vs. Loan Chau – Nhu Loan vs. Khanh Ha vs. Luu Bich

I couldn’t find anything to compare these four outfits with so I decided to put them together. My favorites are Nhu Quynh’s simple ‘ao ba ba’ and Loan Chau – Nhu Loan fairy like red with white flower ensemble. Though Khanh Ha looks stunning from the neck up, her dress seem to covers up her curves and made her look plunge. Luu Bich’s was my least favorite since it looks cliché and re-used. I swear I saw her wear this shirt before so I was disappointed with her fashion choice.

Best Ky Duyen: Ky Duyen vs. Ky Duyen vs. Ky Duyen vs. Ky Duyen

Every show Ky Duyen always manages to steal away the fashion part of the show with her dresses transition. This show was no exception and she once again looks stunning in all fourof her dresses not including the hanbok at the end. Personally my favorite was her light apple green dress because it made her look so young and beautiful. I love that hair on her as well and think she should do that more often. My least favorite of her set was her second caramel, coffee ruffles dress because it made her look quite old and chubby since it didn’t give her any curves.

1. Dung Hua Voi Em… - Minh Tuyet and Thaifoon

This song was perfect to open the shoe in Korea because the beat, dance, and everything about it were very Korean like. Minh Tuyet looks absolutely sexy even without getting all dress up (simple yet hot!). I absolutely love the song and I thought both Minh Tuyet and Thaifoon did an excellent job getting everyone hype and excited about the show.

When I first heard them duet in Minh Tuyet’s solo CD I was a bit disappointed because it wasn’t one of my favorite, but after re-listening to it numerous of times I’ve grown to love the duet. Therefore I was anticipating this song and I wasn’t disappointed.

2. Bao Gia Em Moi Hieu – Trinh Lam

When I first heard that he will once again perform a song that he composed, I was so excited because I loved his other song, “Tai Sao?” At first I thought this song was too cliché, but after awhile I fell in love with the lyrics and harmony of the song. Trinh Lam’s vocals are perfect and poignant and deliberated the song amazingly well. I’m anticipating for more songs he composes in the future.

3. Nua Hon Thuong Dau – Y Lan

This was one of the songs I wasn’t anticipating and to listen to her speech was even more dreadful. I can understand if you say how excited to be in Korea, but her speech was ‘long’.

As for the song her vocals were fascinating, but it was quite boring to listen to. I like the background music though because it’s romantic and dreamy. Overall, I wouldn’t say this song was one of the most entertaining or great to listen to.

4. Duong Vao Yeu – Thuy Tien

The song is fun and catchy, but it’s not special. However, Thuy Tien looks stunning with that dress/skirt/shirt that shows off her beautiful legs perfectly. The dance was also very interesting with the puppet thing, I don’t quite get it, but I still thought it was interesting.

5. Xot Xa – Mai Quoc Huy

No wonder everyone applauses at the first note. His voice sounds exactly like Che Linh and Che Linh is a legend in the Vietnamese music industry. The song was great at the beginning and then it got boring near the middle and the end (nothing new). I have to say his stag-presence is very likeable and innocent.

6. Superstar – Van Quynh and Huong Giang

Both of them sound great – no doubt. The lyrics is fascinating, but I don’t know why it’s call “Superstar” since it has nothing to do with superstars. The song started out catchy and fun, but it got dreadful and boring at the end. I wished they could have dance with a crew of dancer in the back because it could have been less boring to watch.

7. Thien Dang Danh Mat – Duong Trieu Vu

I must agree with many fans that the sun-glasses was too over-the-top, but that the least of his problem. The song was great until he started rapping (it was horrible). When I first hear the song from the ad preview I loved the song, but now I totally hate the song for the rapping. However, I still like the none-rapping part of the song; it was fresh, new and young.

8. Tan Co Bac Trang Lua Hong – Manh Quynh and Huong Thuy

Like I’ve said before, these type of songs are not my cup of tea, but I would give it a try for Manh Quynh and Huong Thuy. Since I’m still young I don’t quite get the song, but I could tell that most of the audience loved the song because they could relate to this song.

9. Hai Que – Quang Le

His voice is so poignant and fascinating. Quang Le sounds absolutely amazing in this song and I don’t think anyone can or will perform it better then he can. If you look closely Quang Le puts his heart and soul into this sound because he actually tears up at the end which shows you how much he loves this song. Even though it’s a great song I still have problems with his eye contact – it’s getting quite uncomfortable to watch.

10. Thoi Nho Mong Ma Chi – Bao Han

This was the song I wanted to listen to the most since its Bao Han’s first solo in years and I wasn’t disappointed. Her cute facial expressions are still there and her dancing is still sizzling. I wished that she could have dance more since I love her dancing, but it was great! The song was catchy and fun but she should have sang louder since the music overshadowed her voice.

11. Hoa Vang May Do – Khanh Ly

Her voice is still very dramatic over so many years. I’ve heard this song before and I must say Khanh Ly sounded the best here. I absolutely love this song because it has that romantic and jazz feeling to it which I always love.

12. Ha Trang – Tran Thai Hoa

I was a bit disappointed with the song choice, but then again Tran Thai Hoa’s vocal is intruding. I know the lyrics are fascinating, but it was quite boring. However, I still like the song even if it’s a bit boring.

13. Tan Bien – Roni Trong and Huynh Gia Tuan

Nice dance moves and fun beat, but I don’t why I wanted to fast forward the song every time I see Huynh Gia Tuan. His voice doesn’t fit with this song and the little thing that he does with his hand is so annoying! However, I still like Roni Trong’s Vietnamese; he actually sounds better here rather then weak like in PBN 87.

14. Hai Kich: Giot Le Dai Trang – Hoai Linh, Chi Tai and Huu Loc

Goodness this was one of the worst ‘hai kich’ of 2007. It was so boring and over-the-top. The only time I laughs were from Hoai Linh. I knew Huu Loc would be boring and I was absolutely right, he was so fake and horrible as a comedian. I don’t know why they like to use Vietnamese music since they are a music production; why can’t they use their own music? Kudos to the make-up artist on transforming Hoai Linh into the old lady – he looks so real!

15. Gio Bac and Ly Con Sao Bac Lieu – Huong Lan and Tam Doan

I’ve heard both these song numerous of times and I must say this arrangement was my favorite because both Huong Lan and Tam Doan sounds wonderful together. Their voices blend and mix together so perfectly. You can feel the love and tension between the two since these songs talks about a daughter and her mother separating. Even though Tam Doan didn’t sound as great during the ‘vong co’ part, but it’s still her first time and for a first timer she sounds acceptable.

16. Em Van Tin – Ho Le Thu

One of my favorite songs during the show, the song was perfect for the show since it’s in Korea. Ho Le Thu did an excellent job translating and performing the song. Korean songs always need a singer with strong and demanding voice so Ho Le Thu’s was perfect because her voice is so dramatic and strong. Thanks to this song Ho Le Thu is now on my favorite singers list.

17. Mua Tren Que Huong – Nhu Quynh

This song is made for Nhu Quynh and I don’t think anyone can make the song justice like Nhu Quynh because she sounds so great. No wonder why so many fans is sad of her departer from Paris By Night because her ranges are so amazing and wonderful. The dances were simple yet perfect for the song and Nhu Quynh also looks so beautiful!

18. Con Dau Cuoi Cung – Luong Tung Quang

Like I had expected in my sneak peak review, this song is another of my favorite. The song is devastatingly romantic since the song is very sad and gloomy, but somewhere in there it’s still very romantic. The lyrics are wonderful and Luong Tung Quang always manages to perform with a lot of emotions.

19. Yeu De Roi Biet Xot Xa – David Meng

This was also one of my most anticipated song since it’s David Meng first performance after winning and I was dramatically disappointed because I don’t think he sound any better then he had from the Talent Show. He still sounds like he’s screaming into the micro rather then singing. His ranges are everywhere which is hard to listen to. Hope he can improve more after listening to him in the future.

20. Yeu Anh That Kho Noi – Loan Chau and Nhu Loan

Gorgeous! Loan Chau and Nhu Loan look absolutely stunning and beautiful. The song is very enchanted and catchy. The lyric is innocent yet enduring. The dance was simple yet beautiful. Nhu Loan and Loan Chau actually sound great together and Nhu Loan’s voice doesn’t seem to die behind Loan Chau’s voice like her voice usually does with other singer (I was surprised).

21. Mong Sau – Khanh Ha

Khanh Ha’s voice is so strong and something about her voice that makes it stands out from other singers. She once again makes another famous and well known song her own. As for the song I thought it was well written, but had nothing special.

22. Linh Hon Da Mat – Bang Kieu

The song was so good and beautifully sang by Bang Kieu. His ranges were once again poignant and perfect. I love the song and the meaningful lyrics. It was so kind of Bang Kieu to sing this song for Nhat Trung and his late wife, the talented La Suong Suong. R.I.P La Suong Suong!

23. Fashion Show Ao Dai Calvin Hiep and Thai Nguyen – Models from Vietnam and Korea

Yes! I hated watching this fashion show – it was so boring and bland. I’d rather have the singers walk down the runway; however, I must say both designers’ dresses were fascinating and interesting. Personally the second set by Thai Nguyen was more beautiful because it was less dramatic like the first set. Vietnamese ‘ao dai’ are loved for being simple yet sophisticated and the first set by Calvin Hiep had too much going on, but they were still very pretty.

24. Hoa Nang – Mai Tien Dung and Sunny Luong

I love Mai Tien Dung energy and enthusiastic on stage which make the song more enjoyable. As you all know from the sneak peak review I really like Sunny Luong, but I was disappointed seeing him getting overshadowed by Mai Tien Dung. The song was fun and had a great beat to it. The dance was also very enjoyable; overall, just a very fun song.

25. Hoang Vu – The Son

I love The Son’s strong and wonderful voice, but I didn’t quite like this song. It’s over sung by so many artists so I was quite bored to once again listen to this song in such a grand and different show.

26. Tinh Chap Nhan – Quynh Vi

Even though I love Quynh Vi’s voice I thought she could chosen a better song. I’m not saying this song was horrible, but it didn’t do Quynh Vi’s voice justice. However, I thought she look stunning in the dress, but still very old with the make-up.

27. Ki Em Ra Di – Luu Bich

I was hoping for the ending song to be grand, exciting and over-the-top since the opening set such high standard. Yes the song was fun and catchy, but I was hoping for it to have something new and different. The dance from Luu Bich was a bit uncomfortable to watch since she’s not as young as she was before so for her to dance so seductively was a bit weird. Not the best ending but still exceptable.

Overall, I was actually disappointed since it wasn’t as grand and dynamic like it was told to be. However, I still find it enjoyable and fun since they tried something new. There were songs I loved, but there were also songs I dislike. I was also hoping for more Korean translated song since it’s in Korea. I must applauses for Ky Duyen and Nguyen Ngoc Ngan because they did a fantastic job! They were fun, enthusiastic, and interesting to watch. They play off each other so well. I didn’t like the Korean dancer because they don’t understand how to bring diversity to each song like the Paris by Night dancers, but then again the language barrier. I was so disappointed when I realize there was no behind-the-scenes since it’s so fun and entertaining to watch. However, I still recommend this DVD since its fresh and new from Thuy Nga, but don’t expect too much from it because you will get disappointed.

BONUS MVs:

28. Neu Em Duoc Chon Lua – Ngoc Lien

I must say Ngoc Lien look stunning in this MV. The song was not bad at all; I quite like it. I guess the changing of the cloud color shows how her life is when her lover gets in a car accident. The storyline is so Korean; with the car accident and everything. Overall, I thought the MV was beautifully filmed and act.

29. Chuyen Ngay Tho – Ha Phuong

Compare to the other two MV this one look a bit cheap with the fake graphics. Ha Phuong looks stunning in the wedding gown and so innocently beautiful in the blue ‘ao ba ba’. However, the song didn’t seem to fit with her voice because she sounds awkward and weird.

30. Em Van Tin – Ho Le Thu

Like I’ve mention before I absolutely adore this song and to see it act out was even better. Ho Le Thu looks so cute in the MV and she and the Korean actor did a fantastic job. This personally is my favorite MV Thuy Nga has made ever.

First off I would like to thanks Tuan Nguyen from Miratunes.com for posting up this video for us awaiting fans. I tried my best to captures and edit the captures. Ky Duyen and Nguyen Ngoc Ngan are at it again trying to make the show as festive and entertaining as possible. I always love their enthusiasm and presences. I was a bit disappointed when I saw Ky Duyen having long hair – none the less she looks stunning, but I was hoping for a fresher, newer look. I guess she only pulled her hair back on the poster of Paris by Night 89. I’m also very disappointed to not see all the familiar faces of the dance crew. I wished Thuy Nga could’ve have brought them all over because it’s just not comfortable seeing other singers.

1. Dung Hua Voi Em… - Minh Tuyet and Thaifoon

The beat of the song is very catchy and it looks hot! I wasn’t very please with the duet between the two in Minh Tuyet’s solo CD, but I’ll still give this song a chance since it’s the opening. Usually the opening song for any PBN would have fabulous, over-the-top wardrobe. Minh Tuyet just looks too casual. However, anything can change since I’ve only saw like 15 second of the song. This song will be on my watch list.

2. Bao Gio Em Moi Hieu – Trinh Lam

I already can tell that this song will be another hit for Trinh Lam. I must admit that he’s a great composer; always writing such meaningful and wonderful lyrics. He also performs the song very well therefore this song will be on my watch list 100%.

3. Nua Hon Thuong Dau – Y Lan

This is a typical Y Lan song and I’m not interested in listening to this song because it seems boring. I hope seeing the whole performance can change my mind, but for right now this song isn’t intruding.

4. Duong Vao Yeu – Thuy Tien

Thuy Tien looks absolutely stunning with that hairstyle and mini-baby blue dress/skirt. The beats and harmony of the song is very catchy and the lyrics are interesting as well. I now guarantee that this will be one of my favorite songs after the DVD is release.

5. Xot Xa – Mai Quoc Huy

I can’t believe how much Mai Quoc Huy sounds like Che Linh which is a good thing because we don’t have much singer like Che Linh these days. I’m quite interested to hear the rest of the song.

6. Superstar – Van Quynh and Huong Giang

Both Huong Giang and Van Quynh look stunning especially Van Quynh and her long hair. As for the song I feel 50-50 about if I like the song or not; we’ll just have to see when the DVD releases next week.

7. Thien Dang Danh Mat – Duong Trieu Vu

The beat of this song is so cool! One of my favorite preview songs so far... However, I just couldn’t help but laugh at Duong Trieu Vu and his glasses attempting to be cool. I don’t blame him since most of Korea has that ‘cool’ looks to it. Definitely waiting to hear and see this performance.

8. Tan Co Bac Trang Lua Hong – Manh Quynh and Huong Thuy

I’ve never liked this type of music, but I’m always willing to give it a chance. No doubts that Manh Quynh and Huong Thuy sounds acceptable together so I think I’ll give it a go and see what happens.

9. Hai Que – Quang Le

Fascinating lyrics this song has. Quang Le’s voice of course is flawless and great. So of course I’ll be waiting to listen to this song. The two huge – bushy trees for this song looks weird yet right for the song.

10. Thoi Nho Mong Ma Chi – Bao Han

One of my most anticipated songs of this whole DVD. Bao Han haven’t got to sing a solo for quite awhile and I’ve miss that. The song is catchy, dance moves looks nice, and Bao Han looks absolutely sizzling so I’ll be waiting.

11. Hoa Vang May Do – Khanh Ly

Khanh Ly always manages to delivers an outstanding performance. Her voice is crisp and her range is unbelievable. Beside those qualities the song also seems to be very good so I’m anxious to listen to the rest.

12. Ha Trang – Tran Thai Hoa

This song is so old and over sung by so many artists so for Tran Thai Hoa to sing this again is quite boring. However, his voice is so fascinating and interesting that I want to give this song another listen.

13. Tan Bien – Roni Trong and Huynh Gia Tuan

This song is perfect for that Korean feeling. Fast beat and nice dance moves. The clothing style is also perfect since they are performing in Korea. The beat is fun and exciting so I can’t wait to see the whole performance.

14. Gio Bac and Ly Con Sao Bac Lieu – Huong Lan and Tam Doan

I’ve been waiting for these two to duet since I don’t know. So I’m happy about it and am waiting patiently for the release of the CD. Their voices match with each other perfectly and both of the songs are very catchy and popular.

15. Em Van Tin – Ho Le Thu

The Viet translations are done nicely by Ho Le Thu. To what I can hear I think it’s a very good song. The dramatic and dynamic in Ho Le Thu’s voice gives the song more emotions and life. So far I love the song and I’ll be waiting to hear the rest. Does any notice that her face looks flatter then usual? I don’t want to starts any rumors, I’m just curious.

16. Mua Tren Que Huong – Nhu Quynh

The net is circulating that this will be Nhu Quynh’s last performance with Thuy Nga. However, I don’t think this is the last we’ll see of Nhu Quynh in Thuy Nga because she has been with Thuy Nga for so long now so… As for the song it’s nice and Nhu Quynh’s of course sounds beautiful and wonderful. I’m always anticipating her songs.

17. Con Dau Cuoi Cung – Luong Tung Quang

All of Luong Tung Quang’s songs are on my favorite list and as for right now I think this one will also be on my favorite list. He always manages to picks the right song for his voice and it’s always enjoyable to listen to. So obviously this is on my waiting list.

We’ve all been waiting for his first performance after winning the talent show and here it is. I’ve never been a fan of David Meng and I think I’ll stay that way since this song isn’t as good or special. He’s still screaming at the microphone, but I’ll give it a chance since he’s trying to improve.

Wow both of them looks stunning! The song is a bit slow, but still catches my attention. The only problem is that once again Nhu Loan’s voice seems to fade behinds Loan Chau’s voice. I hope I’ll hear more of her after the DVD releases.

20. Mong Sau – Khanh Ha

Her voice is fabulous so I’ll love to hear the rest of the song. Khanh Ha once again looks beautiful with that hair style. A true diva with a wonderful voice how can I skip her song?

21. Linh Hon Da Mat – Bang Kieu

Bang Kieu always performs his hearts out and you can tell from his voice and facial expressions. For now I love the song so of course I’m waiting to hear the rest.

22. Fashion Show Ao Dai Calvin Hiep and Thai Nguyen – Models from Vietnam and Korea

I hated the fashion show in PBN 84 and I think I’ll hate it again since it’s so boring watching the models walking. I’ll rather have the singers matching even without singing because I’ll surely enjoy it more. I must say so far from what I can see the dresses look stunning!

23. Hoa Nang – Mai Tien Dung and Sunny Luong

Another pop and catchy song…. Sunny Luong was one of my favorite that didn’t make into the finals so I’m happy to see him perform on stage. I always love exciting song like these so I’ll be waiting to listen and watch.

24. Hoang Vu – The Son

I’ve heard this song so many times and it’s getting kind of boring. I’m quite disappointed with the song choice, but then The Son have a very nice voice so yes I’ll be listening to this once again.

25. Tinh Chap Nhan – Quynh Vi

Quynh Vi sounds amazing and looks terrific. I’ve been a big fan of her since the beginning of the talent show so I’ll be watching this performance again. However, I think she has too much make-up and it makes her look old.

26. Ki Em Ra Di – Luu Bich

Luu Bich always gives sizzling hot performances if there is a crew of dancers so I’ll be expecting this to be hot! After all this is the final song so I’ll be expecting more hotness.

27. Hai Kich – Hoai Linh, Chi Tai and Huu Loc

I know Hoai Linh will give another fantastic performance and Chi Tai will also, but Huu Loc. I don’t know since PBN 87 I’ve hated him as a comedian because he’s just not funny. So I don’t know what to expect from this skit.

Overall, from the preview I think this show wasn’t as grand or huge as I’ve expect it to be. Since the show was in Korea I expected to have translated Korean song, but there were absolutely none. Even PBN 81 seems more like a Korean show then this. I must agree with most fans that there were too much pop and not enough R&B/hip-hop since that’s the main trend in Korea at this moment. My thoughts:
After this was brought up by a member of Thuy Nga forum I went to go re-watch the performance and yes I did see a few mistakes here and there. However, there were only places where she breath; nothing too dramatic. I didn’t see any sign of lip-syncing therefore I would like to say I believes that she was singing live. Some might disagree with me and says that she didn’t sound as great or clear during the Talent Shows. Either way live or lip-syncing I believe that Huong Giang’s voice is quite unique and different.

One other thing is that I don’t want you guys to take the news strip the wrong way because at the end I made it look like I think she lip-sync. The ending was purely for entertainment and enjoyment. So I ask you not to take it too seriously if you’re a fan because I’m also one of her fan.

Analyzing the song:
Basically you can obviously tell out the whole storyline behind this song from the title it self. It talks about a woman in love with one person, but for some reason religious, financial, ect. she have to live with someone she doesn’t love. Though she stays by his side, she still dreams and fanaticizes about that other person.

Thoughts:
You can find a more detailed thoughts here about the song. As you can see I thought the song was phenomenal and fantastic. However, I must agree with some listener that the song was quite sick and mean. I don’t mean the voice because I adore Minh Tuyet’s voice, but the lyrics of the song was hard to listen to if you dig deep. She stays by his side even though she didn’t love him. I think that’s selfish, but then once again it’s just lyrics for singers to sing. Also I didn’t quite think the title of the CD fits with the images of the CD. If you look at the photos; it’s designs to make Minh Tuyet looks like this beautiful princess – nothing sad and miserable. Therefore I think they should have named the album “Giuc Mo Minh Em” Or “Ngo Nhu La Giac Mo” because both title have that fairytale feelings to it, but either then that I thought the song was brilliantly written and sang by Minh Tuyet.

1. Yeu Mot Nguoi, Song Ben Mot Nguoi

I fell in love with Minh Tuyet even more listening to this song because her voice is so soothing to listen to. I just love how strong and demanding her voice is. The first time I heard a preview of this song and I knew it was going to be a great song.

This song is easily my favorite song on the CD. I can listen and sing along anytime or anywhere. I just love the harmony of melody, Minh Tuyet’s voice, and the twisted lyrics. Basically I thought putting this song as the CD’s title was great because it’s the best song of the CD.

2. Giua Doi Minh [ft. Mai Tien Dung]

This was one of the songs that I was highly anticipating and I was a bit disappointed. Not that I don’t like the song, but that I was expecting Mai Tien Dung to sing as a duet not talk/sing. However, I really like the beat and style of the song. Once again Minh Tuyet did a fascinating job. I do love the lyrics; very innocent yet romantic.

3. Nhung An Tinh Xua [ft. Bang Kieu]

Bang Kieu and Minh Tuyet are two of my favorite singer and also is one of my favorite couple. Their voices are so compatible and brilliant together. Since their duet CD “Boi Vi Anh Yeu Em” I have fallen in love with their voices singing together.

I dislike song with talking here and there because I think it’s unnecessary, but I must say that this is another great song delivered by both artistes. However, it’s not their best but it’s enjoyable.

4. O Noi Do Em Cuoi

At first I thought this song was quite boring and dreadful to listen to. One of the reasons was because the lyrics were so deep and gloomy. Repeated and listening closely made me like this song more and more. The lyrics were dreadful, but it’s dreadfully beautiful type of song.

5. Chi Can Anh Thoi

I was pleased with this song. It’s very sweet and beautiful. She got all the notes and her ranger ability once again was amazing. I have always loved listening to Minh Tuyet sing ballads because her voice blends and balance perfectly.

6. Giac Mo Minh Em

At first, I thought this song was too childish for Minh Tuyet because she usually sings the deep and meaningful type of songs. As the song progresses and developed I changed my mind toward the song. The song was innocent, romantic, and sweet. The lyrics are so dreamy and cute! I should’ve have known it would be innocent and dreamy from the title of the song.

7. Mat Nhau Trong Doi [ft. Thaifoon]

When Minh Tuyet started singing I thought it was a background singer because the monotone voice doesn’t sound much like her. Beside that I thought her voice was great, but the song wasn’t as catchy as the other.

This was one of my other highly anticipated songs because of guest singer Thaifoon, but I was greatly disappointed. The rapping wasn’t very catchy or great; though he is a good rapper. The lyrics had nothing special. Overall, I just didn’t enjoy the song as I thought I would have.

8. Ngo Nhu La Giac Mo

I must admit Minh Tuyet did a fantastic job singing this song. The song is soothingly beautiful and romantic. Once again her ranges were great. Minh Tuyet always tries to put as much emotions into the song as she can. One of the reasons she is such a successful singer because she sing with her heart and soul. One of my favorite songs!

9. Nguoi O Lai

Another wonderful ballad delivered by Minh Tuyet. The harmony and arrangement for this song was great. I said it before and will again Minh Tuyet never disappoints when she sing ballads because she dominates.

10. Lam Sao Em Biet

What a fascination and amazing song. The lyrics were great, the voice was great, and the harmony/beat was awesome; another of those songs that Minh Tuyet makes her own. I’ve heard many other artistes sung this song. However, by far Minh Tuyet sounds the best.

11. Vang Trang Dem Troi

Since PBN 86 everyone has adore and love Minh Tuyet singing this song because it matches her voice so well. One of my favorite song of Minh Tuyet, but since she sang this song live it wasn’t high quality. So I’m very glad that she included this song in her CD because it is really a great song. More review about this song here and here.

Overall,
This CD is worthy of a listen from both parties – fans or anti-fans of Minh Tuyet. It has sweet and serenaded songs to pop/hip hop to beautiful ballads. I was expecting the CD to be great and I wasn’t disappointed. Through out the whole CD there were a few songs I dislike or didn’t enjoy at first, but as I re-listened I’ve grew to like or enjoy all the songs. I just love this CD and is happy with the songs selection that Minh Tuyet and Thuy Nga did for the album. I highly recommend you this album because it’s one of Minh Tuyet’s best! Also I must comment on the pictures in the booklet – Minh Tuyet looks stunning; just like a Disney princess. I love the designs and styles even though they are supposedly a copy. As you can see I loved the pictures so much I use it for my layout of my returning!

Analyzing the song:
All of the songs putted together represent and tell a story about the life of two innocent – youthful lovers during the time of war in Vietnam. The beginning of the act we see the couple saying their goodbye and farewell, hoping and praying for that person to return. Once the girl says her good bye, she realizes without her love her life is dull and gloomy. She cries alone during the middle of the night alone; a sudden sound of a gun shot would scared her to death for the life of her love. While she is praying for his return, he is out in the battlefield fighting to defend his country. Hoping one day the war would end so he could return to the side of his love. During the hazard and destruction of the war, everyone tries to find their way to freedom; the only way is to flee the country and go to America. Everyone hope and pray for the country as they leave one by one. After he unsuccessfully couldn’t find his love, he flees to America as a soldier leaving her. Each on the other side of the world they still connect in spirit as he anxiously wait for one day they could see each other again while she prays for the boat to sail out at sea without hitting waves. After years of waiting, he gets news that her boat had miserably sunk into the wide ocean drowning her and many other passengers. The only thing he could do now is to send the flowers she has given to him years ago when he set off to war. He asks the waves of the ocean to please bring the flower to her representing his love for her.

Thoughts:
What a magnificent act delivered by both Nhu Quynh and The Son. You could see the emotions and tensions in their eyes as the story progresses. The songs selections were perfect and everything went smoothly. Of course both of their vocals were great. Come on its Nhu Quynh and The Son! I also thought that having this is the show talking about composer Lam Phuong was acceptable because he were up during the time period of the war and fleeing to America – which is a big part of his inspiration to produces all those songs. Overall, from acting to singing to lyrics these combinations of song were perfectly done.

Did you guys miss me?

After eight days of disappearance I have decided to return to the life of an administrator and a writer. I wanted to quit both Entertaining You and Modern beauties quietly, but after a long rest I knew I couldn’t get through a day without getting on to update or plainly chat and talk with you fans. In recent days I have receive numerous emails and comments wanting me to return; however, I try not to get online so I could leave it behind, but I just couldn’t do it. You could say this was a publicity stunt for my both of my sites because in the past eight days the numbers of visitors had doubled – which is quite weird because I haven’t update or written anything new.

I’m saying right now that since school will be starting very soon, I wouldn’t be updating as much as I would like. You will most likely see me updates on weekend and holidays since school give us breaks. This was one other reason that I wanted to quit because I was scare of disappointing you with limited updates, but then I realized that if I shut down the sites you fans would be in even more disappointment.

I made a new layout featuring Minh Tuyet’s new solo CD “Yeu Mot Nguoi, Song Ben Mot Nguoi” – what can I say? The pictures were too gorgeous to not make a layout. I really like this new layout because it’s very fairytale like and it has that sense of Disney World. Minh Tuyet looks so pretty in the pictures! In a way the layout represents the site perfectly because it’s uplifting and enchanted. I hope you guys enjoy the layout. It took quite awhile to make it.

My thoughts:
In my opinion I can see why peoples are saying that the designs and style on Minh Tuyet CD resemblances Beyonce’s ‘B-Day’ CD. However, I don’t know why peoples are making such a big deal about this situation. Even if the designer did copy – not saying that he/she did, but why are peoples bashing on Minh Tuyet? I just don’t understand why you have to either love or hate on her. On the other rumor about composer Dan Truong suing Minh Tuyet and Thuy Nga for using Hoai An’s songs, ‘O Noi Do Em Cuoi’ and ‘Nhung An Tinh Xua’, without verifying and asking him. This is typical around the Viet community always stirring up trouble. Once again I think this is just a made-up because do you think a big grand production like Thuy Nga would randomly use songs from a composer without verifying them first. That’s just ridiculous and dumb thing to do.

After four hard days of work for a new and improve site with the new server I finally realizes that blogger.com was much better; even with its slow publishing and updates. However, I could posts more here and change layouts that I make which is one of the main reasons I opened the site. To limit my graphic skills was not worth the changes. I would like to apologize to all of you fans that have been anticipating a fresh new site. I truly apologize. The good news is that you don’t have to wait any longer because the site is back and running smoothly again. I hope you all will return to support me and Entertaining You. Also I’ll be changing the layout shortly so enjoy this one while you can.

As for Entertaining You’s first anniversary I would like to thank everyone that have supported and loved the site of Entertaining You since the beginning; July 24, 2007. The site started out with one or two visitors a day therefore I wanted to quit, but thanks to these peoples specifically; Drew, Emma and Ngo4k3 that kept me going. If it wasn’t for those supporters this site would have closed down and died last year. Now that the site have blossom and grown into a successful Thuy Nga community site. I’m one happy administer!

For the one year anniversary of Entertaining You I kept thinking how I could make it grand, exciting, and special. Even to the point that I wanted to change server and a new look about the site. However, because of the reasons mentioned above I just wanted to write a deep intimate thought about the site for you fans. Yes! It’s not the most intruding thing, but at least you guys can know how I feel about the success of Entertaining You.

Right at the moment I’m very happy with the site position and how many visitors that the site has gotten over the one year period. Right now Entertaining You is rank 532,968 in the United State which is a pretty good number for its first year. However, I want it to be in the top 500,000 site by next year and then keep moving closer and closer to the top 100,000 site. You guys will support and help me achieve this goal right? In other country like France and Canada I rank 165,561 and 177,101. These are phenomenal numbers for its first year, but I would still like to climb higher to the top.

As you can see the layout includes some of the past layout from the first site and the second. I guess I wanted to do that to represent how the site has grown and develop. I don’t want to make this all long and boring so I would like to stop here with a thank you for the support!

This song speaks about the life of songs writer, Lam Phuong, after getting old. After written so many amazing masterpieces Lam Phuong is obviously happy about the success of his music, but he wakes up every morning alone. The only friends and person/things he could chat and talk to are his birds that he own which I think is very sad. He wishes and longs for a happy family where he can love and cherish, but because of his love for music he had abandon his personal love life; leaving it to his next life.

Thoughts:
I thought that the song was so simple yet dramatically beautiful. It’s more than just a song it’s about Lam Phuong and his life – a poem or a biography. This was one of his best works because of the fascinating lyrics and the story it carries within. It also teaches you life moral; to live life and cherish everyone around you before you turn old because times flies. Picking this song to end the show of PBN 88 was a great idea because it’s represent and speaks up of Lam Phuong’s life. As for the singer, Huong Giang, I thought she did a tremendous job with the song because she has such a strong and demanding voice. More of the song review here.

1. Doan Nguoi Lu Thu – The Son, Tran Thai Hoa, Luong Tung Quang, Duong Trieu Vu, Trinh Lam, Huy Tam, Tam Doan, Huong Thuy, Ngoc Lien, Ngoc Loan, Quynh Vi, and Huong Giang

When the six gorgeous ladies walk out onto the stage with their multi color traditional dresses it made the stage look so beautiful and energetic. Adding with 6 more handsome male in tuxedo, it made the stage even more beautiful as it was already was. The song was exciting and beautifully written by composer, Lam Phuong. From the lyrics to the music to the singers the song was just perfect for an opening because it had excitement and fun while shows off Lam Phuong’s ability to write a song. Overall, I thought this was one of Thuy Nga’s best openings even if it wasn’t as grand or choreograph.

2. Kiep Ngheo – Y Lan

I was never a fan of Y Lan or her music, but I have to say that this song was excellent both deliver by Lam Phuong’s lyrics and Y Lan’s voice. If you listen to the lyrics closely it’s a very emotional and sad song from the heart of Lam Phuong. The tango yet traditional feeling of the song was unbelievable enjoyable and easy to listen to what ever generation you are.

3. Thanh Pho Buon & Tinh Nhu May Khoi – Che Linh and Mai Quoc Huy

Che Linh owns this song from the first time he sang this song and no matter how many other singers tries to sing this song will fail to overcome Che Linh’s ability to outshine this song. His voice was just extravagant and perfect for this song because it brought the sadness and sorrow of the song while show off the beautiful city. When I first saw Mai Quoc Huy in PBN 84 I didn’t like his voice or his style of singing at all, but this song change it all. His raspy voice is intruding to listen to and it’s great to find more of these types of singers because they’re disappearing in the Viet music industry.

4. Tien Nguoi Di – Huong Lan

There is no need to talk about Huong Lan’s ability to sing because her voice is now one of the best – she has the ability to hit every note of any song perfectly. Huong Lan can make any song sang by anyone into a different song because of her voice and style. She puts her whole self and emotions into the song. With Lam Phuong’s music it was even better because the lyrics itself is very emotional and grand.

5. Buc Tam Thu – Nhu Loan and Ngoc Loan

This song looks and sounds so innocent and cute with Ngoc Loan and Nhu Loan in their sweet white ‘ao dai’. I have to agree with most of everyone thoughts that Nhu Loan was too weak and childish for this song, but I thought it was great because this was a soft and sweet song. And for someone to sing this wouldn’t be as good because it doesn’t have that soft and innocent sound.

6. Chieu Tan – Hoang Oanh

The lyric of the song talks about the peacefulness of the sunset and the beautiful ocean. Hoang Oanh delivered the song at her best and I thought that it was an ok song. I would have wish that Hoang Oanh sing a different song, but nothing the less it was still a good song.

7. Biet Den Bao Gio & Dem Tien Don - Manh Quynh and Truong Vu

I love how Manh Quynh has the ability to take all his emotions and places into the song. It makes the song much more compatible to even if you were not in that situation. However, you still feel and pity the devastating story. His voice is very original and his style of singing is extraordinary because it’s fresh and new. Overall, I enjoyed both of the song from the lyrics to the singers.

8. Ngay hanh Phuc – Tam Doan, Huong Thuy, Minh Tuyet, and Ngoc Lien

The song looks and song so exciting and festive on stage with four beautiful and talented singer dancing in their simple yet elegant white ‘ao dai’. The dancers dancing in the back just made the song more fun and interesting to watch. The more you watch the song your mouth just smirk up a smile and keep you smiling. It was just a great entertaining and fun song to watch and listen to.

9. Nghen Ngao – Khanh Ha

Khanh Ha’s vocals excel and accelerate to the top of any note or the bottom of any low note. That’s why her voice is one of the best now a day. With the great vocals come a controller and Khanh Ha also dominate the ability to control her voice. The violin and the crystal backdrop made the song devastating romantic.

10. Phut Cuoi – Bang Kieu

When Bang Kieu hit the first note the crowd went wild because we all know that this is one of Lam Phuong most recognize song throughout all of his excellent and emotion songs. Bang Kieu did an amazing job bringing the lyrics and emotions together to produce an absolutely fascinating song.

11. Em Di Roi – Hoa Mi

Because I’m so young I have never heard her first debut version in PBN 06, but taking from a young perfective you have to admit that her voice is tremendous and demanding. If you would close your eyes to listen to the song you could take in all the emotions and feelings putting into the song and singer itself.

I thought the song was so sweet and innocent yet sad that they have to separate their ways. The white wore between both party shows the innocence and peaceful before the war happen. It was very sad seeing their hands separate and un touch like a couple being cut into two.

Khoc Tham – Nhu Quynh

The video of Nhu Quynh and The Son together in the back screen shows you how sad Nhu Quynh was remembering her love one. Nhu Quynh sounded extremely great – like always – you can see and feel the sadness and emotions in Nhu Quynh’s eyes as much as you can hear it in her voice.

Chieu Hoang Vang – The Son

The graphics and representation of the war gave by The Son struck emotions from inside me that I have never gotten before. I’m too young to know or feel any about the war and hardship about our country. The Son delivered a very realistic performance with remembering his love ones.

Con Tau Dinh Menh – The Son, Luong Tung Quang, Trinh Lam, Huy Tam and Quynh Vi

Hearing the sound of the radio must have been devastating for the citizens of Vietnam. Seeing peoples running and falling on stage was tear dropping and jaw dropping. Imagine that with thousands more. It must have been a harsh period in time for our ancestor and grandparents.

Mat – The Son and Nhu Quynh

The song was tragically romantic with Nhu Quynh loosing both her beloved country and love one. When the two touch hand it was a representation of their soul touching and being together even when they are miles away.

Vinh Biet Nguoi Tinh – The Son and Nhu Quynh

From the sound effect to the visuals it sound and looks so real and realistic. It was so hard seeing Nhu Quynh and many other die and the old lady crying her heart out. Tears just drop from your eye even if you try to old it in. Their love story is so tragic and emotional; it’s quite hard to watch because it brings up so many emotions.

Overall, I thought this was one of the best songs in the whole DVD because it had perfect timing, was choreographic perfectly, and perform extremely well by both Nhu Quynh and The Son. I felt every emotion from peacefulness to sadness to grieve and even a sense of being happy.

13. Chuyen Do Vy Tuyen – Tam Doan

Another typical Tam Doan song, but this time is was different because it was a song composed by Lam Phuong. Tam Doan deliver another great song vocal wise as well as lyrics. I must say that Tam Doan look so beautiful in the blue ‘ao dai’ added with the blue background and picture.

14. Duong Ve Que Huong – Quang Le

This song is also the theme and core of the DVD and I was anticipating the song because it’s one of Lam Phuong best piece of art. Vocals wise Quang Le dominated and excels, but stage presence it was quite hard to watch because of his lack of eye contact. However, I still thought his voice is extraordinary for the song.

15. Nang Dep Mien Nam. Khuc Ca Ngay Mua – Ha Phuong and Huong Thuy

Ha Phuong and the dancers costume were so elegant and beautiful adding with the dancers throwing pink pedals were so festive and fun. Huong Thuy and the dancers outfit show how fun and innocent the peoples in the country have. I can’t help but smile at the gorgeous scene from both performances. Overall, both were very fun and exciting to watch.

16. Hai Kich: Lam – Hoai Linh and Chi Tai

The comedy was very funny and entertaining. When Hoai Linh acts as a girl you know it will be very funny. His facial expression is very well done and priceless. The ID incident was very smart and funny. However, I must say his explanation of the days of the week was hilarious and so funny. I especially love the way they change up chief cook.

17. Say and Lam – Duong Trieu Vu and Trinh Lam

Even though I love Duong Trieu Vu’s voice I have to admit that he didn’t make the song his own. His voice is indeed strong, but it wasn’t right for the song. I would rather have another person sing this song. The first line sang by Trinh Lam is very famous and known by almost everyone that knows Lam Phuong’s music. Trinh Lam did an excellent job with his part. However, when Duong Trieu Vu sang with him it got much better because they both similar voices. I rather have Duong Trieu Vu sing this song rather then ‘Say’.

18. Cho Em Quen Tuoi Ngoc – Bach Yen and Tran Thu Ha

French is supposed to be romantic and dreamy which Bach Yen did an extremely well doing. Even though I have never heard her sing before I must admit that her voice is unique and different from others. When Tran Thu Ha sang the Viet version of the song you can hear that it’s indeed a bittersweet romantic song. Tran Thu Ha is younger then Bach Yen, but still manage to sound equally professional vocally.

19. Ngay Em Di – Nguyen Hung

Nguyen Huong owned the stage and dance floor respectably. His stage presence is so enthusiastic and fun to watch, but never forget his vocals because it’s no where behind his ability to make a song fun to watch. Lyrics wise I say this is also one of my favorites from Lam Phuong.

20. LK: Thien Dang Ai An, Chi Co Em, and Tinh Van Chua Yen – Bao Han, Thuy Tien, and Luong Tung Quang

Bao Han look sizzling hot as a blonde and the Moulin Rough purple outfit. This song has been performed by numerous singers and I must say Bao Han did very well. Thuy Tien looks classy and elegant in the blue ruffle dress and the male dancers in tuxedo. The song is once again very well performed. Luong Tung Quang took this song and made it his own which made me want him to sing the whole song by himself. None the less I love the mix between the three singers. The stage was so beautiful and colorful adding with the sharp and fun choreography.

21. LK: Tram Nho Ngan Thuong and Tinh Bo Vo – Tran Thai Hoa and Ngoc Lien

The jazz and soothing melody was both romantic in both songs. Both of their voice matches and blended well together because it’s both so low and unique. The second son is a bit faster yet still very soothing and romantic. The lyrics in both songs were so unique and dreamy written by Lam Phuong.

22. Bao Tango Cho Em – Khanh Ly

Queen of tango indeed Khanh Ly’s voice is perfect for this song because it has that unique ‘it’ thing about it that fit. Adding with Tuan Hung and Thuy Van dancing in the background adds more romance and sophistication to the already great song.

23. Mua Thu Yeu Duong – Huy Tam and Quynh Vi

They look like they had a lot of fun on stage which is very easy to watch. Paris is known as the city of love and for them to sing about it as a couple was very romantic. Quynh Vi’s voice is very strong for a singer that have only been in the industry not even a year yet so I congratulate her as for Huy Tam, his voice is quite different yet good, but what I like about him that is he have great stage presence and is so free spirit.

24. Cho Nguoi – Bang Kieu and Tran Thu Ha

Another romantic and beautiful song delivered by Bang Kieu and Tran Thu Ha. When the song starts off it had Tran Thu Ha and a musician with a guitar then it changes to Bang Kieu and a piano; both represents romance and love. Their voices are so strong and demanding which work perfectly.

25. Minh Mat Nhau Bao Gio – Minh Tuyet

It was surprising for Minh Tuyet to turn around on the side because it looks so much like Minh Tuyet dancing at the beginning. As for the song it’s very easy and fun to hear. Great job Shanda for the choreography of song because it was so fun and exciting to watch. The dances were simple yet very sophisticated and alluring.

26. Mot Minh – Huong Giang

It was so sad for the show to come to an end and having this song to end it was perfect because it shows the happiness and success of Lam Phuong music, while shows the sadness and sense of being alone. It looks so heart throbbing as Lam Phuong wakes up alone and dreaming of a family. I can’t but feel pity and sad for him. The song also teaches you to live your life because time passes by very quickly. Huong Giang looks so elegant and beautiful in a innocent white and light blue ‘ao dai’. Her voice is so strong yet has a weak and innocent feeling which represents the song and Lam Phuong perfectly.

Overall, the DVD was extremely enjoyable and fun to watch. Lam Phuong ability to write and compose songs are so admiring and loved by everyone. I applause and clap for him loudly for his music and wish the best for his health so he can compose more amazing and emotional songs. I highly recommended this DVD because it’s a great collection to your PBN stack while teaches you a lesson of treasuring your love ones and yourself.

1. Tim Anh Troi Ve Em

The song started out as a ballad and suddenly it turn into a cha-cha-cha type of song which caught me by surprise. Maybe it’s a sign that this CD might be more then what I would expect. The song was enjoyable, but I can’t say that it would be a long time favorite type of song. However, I love the music and beat to the song because it has a tropical feeling and mood to it.

2. Nho

Quang Dung’s voice is at its best in a ballad because it elaborates his extravagant voice to the top. The song it self wasn’t not bad either – it had that romantic and dreamy feeling when listening to the song. Once again the music and beats were so relaxing and interesting!

3. Dem Huyen Dieu

The music and tone once again made me a fan of the song because it had that jazz mood to it and I love jazz. If you ever doubt Quang Dung’s voice then go grab yourself a copy of this CD and listen to this song. You will then realize that his is extremely strong and incredible.

4. Lo Yeu Em Roi

The music at the beginning arouses romance and enchantment into the ears of the listener. This song is one of my favorite songs of the whole CD because it’s fascinating to listen to both the lyrics and Quang Dung’s voice.

5. Da Khuc

When the song started out I was intrigue by the beating drums, but was disappointed by the song. Quang Dung’s voice once again was great; however, I didn’t enjoy the song much.

6. Khi

This was my most anticipated song of the whole CD because it’s the title. I was very disappointed at the beginning of the song, but as the song progresses I grew to like the song. One of the reasons was Quang Dung’s voice – he can manage to make any boring song sound tremendous.

7. Trong Giac Mo Em

Another dreamy and romantic song sung by Quang Dung, but I didn’t thought it was as excellent as the other songs. I didn’t enjoy the beat and music. However, Quang Dung still had a brilliant voice.

8. Tieng Song

This song is techno with a bit of upbeat ballad, but once again I didn’t enjoy the song. The loud music, background vocals and sound effects overshadow and stood out – not in a good way though. If they had less sound effects and echo the song would be much more enjoyable.

9. Phia Toi Nam Hon Toi

For some reason every song that starts out with the thunderstorm and rain would turn out to be a great song or at least decent. However, in this case I didn’t enjoy this song – maybe because it was too slow.

10. Coi Mo Diu Em

I absolutely love this song because it was soft and easy to listen to. This is one of my other favorite songs of this CD. Even in a mellow song Quang Dung still manage to make it sound strong and sophisticated.

11. Tinh

I wish that they didn’t make this slow and romantic feeling song to a fast beat and hip song because it doesn’t sound as great. When Loan Chau sang this song in PBN 73 in a sizzling lien khuc with Nhu Loan and Minh Tuyet I thought the song was so great, but it totally ruined after hearing this version. However, Quang Dung’s voice still sound great even if the song didn’t.

Overall: I thought the CD was a great new collection to all Ballads lover because this CD include some of the most romantic and extravagant songs. Therefore I highly recommend this CD to all the ballads lovers even if there are some fast beat songs and techno. However, it’s still worth your money because Quang Dung’s voice will not deceive and disappoints you.

In the spirit of Independence Day I would like to wish everyone a great fireworks watching and family day! Remember not to get to wild or drunk today – stay safe and mostly of all have a blast with your family and friends.

Also I have been thinking about the showdown and have decided to change and spice it up a bit. Comparing singers gets quite boring at times because there are not enough Thuy Nga singers to compare. Therefore, it will now be compare between stuff such as: Best fashion show, best tear dropper, ect. There can also be comparison between two artists, but only once or twice a year. The showdown will be featuring all Thuy Nga DVD, CD, ect. from the year before meaning this year will feature PBN 80-84.

Best Fashion Show

Almost once a year Thuy Nga will have a fashion show including some of their hottest and sexiest female singers. It sizzle with fabulous dresses and gowns of all different colors and style. In the year of 2006 Paris by Night made 3 run way for three different and unique fashion show and you're here to decide which one is your favorite.

1. LK: Xuan Vui Ca & Chuc Mung Xuan (PBN 80)

This fashion show Thuy Nga shows off ten traditional dresses of different colors – mostly happy and cheerful colors. I thought that the fabrics of the dresses were smooth and nice looking. My favorite among the ten was Bao Han’s orange spilt on the arm because the color was perfect for New Year it just stands out to me.

2. Sao Em No Voi Lay Chong (PBN 84)

Eight gorgeous singers walk on stage with eight fabulous traditional dresses, but this time a more sophisticate style – it was more of wedding dresses. This show was my favorite among the three from last year because it was so unique and beautiful to watch. My favorite was Ngoc Lien’s bright red dress because it shows sophistication and it’s classy.

3. Nhung Buoc Chan Am Tham (PBN 84)

This fashion show showcased all of Calvin Hiep new dresses – there were great looking one and there were not so great. However, it was still interesting and beautiful side by side. I thought that some of the dresses look too simple so I didn’t like this fashion as much.

Analyzing the song
Basically this song talks about a girl mesmerizing and thinking about her love in the dark weary night – remembering how her loves brought happiness and sun shine to her darkest hours of her life. Her soul and heart is dedicated to this love; even the slightest mistake would break and destroy her life. Now she sees her love with another person kills and hurts her to the heart and soul. Blind by the love she wishes and pray for the love to glow and maybe one day he would come back by her side. However, she now realizes that their love had die and vanish just like the sun after sunset.

Thoughts:
This is one of my favorite songs sung by Tu Quyen because it matches the low sexy tone of her well. When I first heard her sang live I thought she sounded magnificent in real life and for me to once again listen to her sound equally beautiful – maybe even better – it makes me love her as a singer even more. The song ended the Talent Show Finale and I must say I couldn’t be happier because the song was unique, enjoyable, and just fun to listen to. Even though Tu Quyen is not the best singer out there, but I recommend the wannabes singers to listen, watch, and learn the way she present herself – she’s so loveable and sweet on and off screen which is also one of the reason so many fans loves her.

However, there was an eye witness that saw the singer use foul language, but never mentioned once about the slap from the singer. Thanh Ha is known to be a straightforward and hot temper person so there is a slight possibility that she could’ve hit the owner, but then something must have arouse her to strike. Now the owner of the shop has file a law suit against the singer. Therefore questions are brought up about this whole incident. Did Thanh Ha just want the owed CDs? Did the owner of the shop send Thanh Ha’s husband sexy pictures? Was there ever a slap?

The beginning of the lien khuc started off with a dramatic and intense beat and when Bang Kieu started to sing I was quite disappointed at the song choice because I was expecting so much more; however, when The Son continues I started to like it. The lien khuc continues with tremendous song with great lyrics. Having these four singers to sing was great because you have Bang Kieu and Minh Tuyet taking the high pitch range while The Son and Ngoc Lien dominated the low pitch. I was quite surprise how much I like ‘Tinh Mong’ in this ensemble of songs because I was never too fond of the song when Ngoc Lien sang it solo. The person that shine the most in this song to me have to be Bang Kieu – I don’t know if it’s his voice or because he had all the best part to shine which make his voice stand out. Usually Minh Tuyet would outshine everyone; however, she didn’t stand out too much for me – I’m not saying she sounded bad just not at her best. The Son also did a great job and I thought his best vocal part was during ‘Dang Em’. He sounded amazing and professional – I’ve never enjoy his voice, but I must admit that he sounded decent during these pieces. Even if I dislike Ngoc Lien I must admit she didn’t sound all that bad. Recently she have step up her game and sound quite well. Hope she continues to improve in the future.

2. Lien Khuc Trai Dang : Luong Tung Quang, Ngoc Lien, and Ho Le Thu
(Trai Dang, Xin Danh Tron Cho Em, Van La Anh, Nua Vong Tay Lanh, Tinh Ngo Tram Nam, Noi Dau Nguoi De Lai, Yeu Mai Ngan Nam)

The start of the song was done well, but not my favorite. Luong Tung Quang has always sounded great and still does in this lien khuc. I was quite disappointed that he only had one song to sing. I was extremely surprise to see how their voices match so well. We have seen the Luong Tung Quang - Ngoc Lien and the Luong Tung Quang - Ho Le Thu pair and they sound great together. Now having them trio it was even better. ‘Nua Vong Tay Lanh’ didn’t match well with the rest of the songs, but somehow it fits. Overall, I thought all three did a great job with the lien khuc.

3. Lien Khuc Vang Trang Co Don : The Son, Minh Tuyet, and Van Quynh
(Vang Trang Co Don, Hoa Tim Ngay Xua, Tha Lam Hat Mua Bay, Boi Vi Anh Yeu Em, Vang Trang Khoc, Vang Trang Dem Troi)

I love the beginning song where Minh Tuyet and The Son duet; they sounded phenomenal together. ‘Hoa Tim Ngay Xua’ was not one of the best selected songs, but I think Minh Tuyet’s voice sounded so sweet and innocent. When The Son continues with ‘Tha Lam Hat Mua Bay’ I now truly appreciated The Son voice. The song matches and shows how excellent his voice is. Minh Tuyet still sounds exquisite during ‘Boi Vi Anh Yeu Em’; however, the trio ruined the song for me. The song is known for high range artist such as Minh Tuyet and Bang Kieu – for a low range singers like The Son and Van Quynh made the song horrible. Minh Tuyet sounded marvelous in ‘Vang Trang Khoc’ even in a short time she made the song her own. I recommend her to find her a male co star and sing that song because she sounds amazing. The song matches her voice magnificently. I don’t know what more to say about Minh Tuyet and ‘Vang Trang Dem Troi’ but that I love her singing the song. Until that one person can sound better then her then I can accept them singing it. Overall, Minh Tuyet sounded superb in this lien khuc – out of the three I think Minh Tuyet did her best here. The Son also sounded better then he already did in this lien khuc. The only disappointment for me was Van Quynh because I was expecting so much from her – I think it was the song choice; Van Quynh doesn’t usually sing these types of songs.

4. Lien Khuc Vi Do Lam Em : Bang Kieu, Duong Trieu Vu, Minh Tuyet, and Ho Le Thu
(Tron Kiep Binh Yen, Con Tim Dai Kho , Vi Do La Em, Anh Thi Khong, Mac Ke Toi, Uoc Gi)

The beginning was phenomenal with the wonderful duet, Bang Kieu and Minh Tuyet. Sounding romantic and graceful together – no wonder why their duet CD was such a big hit. They continue to impress me as the song continues – officially my favorite song. Even though I like Ho Le Thu singing ‘Con Tim Dai Kho’ I like it being sung by Luong Tung Quang and Tu Quyen much more; not that I’m a huge fan of both, but they sounded better then Duong Trieu Vu and Ho Le Thu. None the less I still like it being part of the lien khuc. The background voice during ‘Anh Thi Khong’ was annoying to hear because it sounds weird and irritating. Minh Tuyet once again manages to steal the spotlight with her demanding voice. Bang Kieu also did a magnificent job, but I still like him in the first one better. I was disappointed with both Ho Le Thu and Duong Trieu Vu because they both have such strong voices and for them to sound that weak – quite frustrated; however, Ho Le Thu sounded much better during the ending half of the lien khuc, but Duong Trieu Vu continues to be overshadowed.

Overall, I think this CD was done quite well – I enjoy it extremely. The songs choice was phenomenal and matches some singers nicely. I don’t have a favorite because both the first and forth were both extremely enjoyable. Both of the lien khuc had uniqueness and excitement to it. Bang Kieu, Minh Tuyet, and The Son did a superb job with their session during the songs. The two disappointments were Van Quynh and Duong Trieu Vu - they both didn't exceed during their parts. I guess it’s because they didn’t have enough parts for them to shine. Luong Tung Quang, Ho Le Thu, and Ngoc Lien had ups and downs – they sounded great at times and not so good at times. However, I still recommend you this CD if you’re a huge fan of Bang Kieu, Minh Tuyet, and The Son because they all did an excellent job.

Y Lan vs. Khanh Ha

Round 1 – Looks

Both Y Lan and Khanh Ha are known as divas of the Viet music industry. They have that ‘it’ look that spread them apart from others singers, but brings them two together. Y lan is very ‘dieu’ and soft while Khanh Ha has more of a strong diva looks. Therefore I say this round is a tie between the two.

Round 2 – Voice

Y Lan voice is ‘dieu’ and soft just like her look while Khanh Ha’s voice is strong just like her looks. I don’t know who I would choose to have the better voice because both of them have extravagant voice. Once again it’s a tie between the two.

Final Round

Because the first two rounds was a tie between the two I would like to give you, fans, to have the opportunities to think up what the final round should be and also pick the winner of this Thuy Nga showdown. Enjoy, have fun, and Thank you.

nhu quynh – ao hoa review part 2

15. Mua Hoa Ky Niem
This is another great song sang by Nhu Quynh – she manage to sound sexy and sassy at the same time. The song has a traditional feeling adding with a soldier type of music sound. When a soldier type of sound is sang; it’s very romantic and dreamy. Great start into the second half of the CD.

16. Mua Dem Ngoai O
Before even listening to the song from the beautiful title you would have already knew that the song would be a soft and romantic song. Indeed the song was extremely relaxing and calm to listen to. Nhu Quynh’s voice sound so soft, calm, and musing which make me love her voice even more.

17. Hoa Trinh Nu
I’ve heard this song sang by many other artists and I must admit that this version sang by Nhu Quynh is my favorite. Mainly because it’s sang by Nhu Quynh because her voice is so grand and soothing which make the song better then it already is. Also I really like the song because it tells and describe a story.

18. Pho Dem [ft. Truong Vu]
I love this song in Paris by Night 84 and is still in love with this duet and song after listening to it on this CD. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again that Nhu Quynh and Truong Vu are both amazing singer and adding them together you have a supreme duet. After having such great singer adding in such a grand song – what else would you want?

19. Neu Xuan Nay Vang Anh
Everyone should recognize this song by the title because Minh Tuyet has recently sung this song in Paris by Night 85. Even though I think Nhu Quynh did a great job putting a different uniqueness into the song, I have to say that Minh Tuyet’s version was much more enjoyable and exciting. If Nhu Quynh sang the song a bit faster then the song would be much more amusing. However, I think Nhu Quynh still did a great job making the song her own putting a bit of country into the song.

20. Giac Ngu Co Don
From the start I could tell that this would be a dismal and gloomy sad and indeed it was. However, I was only half right because it was not entirely sad, but there were romance in the song. Once again Nhu Quynh manage to make another song sang by others her own.

21. Ao Hoa [ft. Quang Le]
Who doesn’t remember Ao Hoa by Nhu Quynh and Quang Le from Paris by Night 84? When I was first watching PBN I thought the pairing was quite odd because Nhu Quynh was much older and more mature. However, I was wrong because they look decent and they sounded fantastic together.

22. Vong Co Buon
Not one of my favorite song of the CD, but I still thought Nhu Quynh did an extreme job because the song was quite hard to sing. However, Nhu Quynh still manages to nail the song from high to low notes. Even if Nhu Quynh did an excellent job I still couldn’t force myself to like the song.

23. Ke Chuyen Trong Dem [ft. Truong Vu]
What else can I say about Nhu Quynh and Truong Vu, but that I love this duet? Their voice matches so well together and they sound fantastic. However, this song is not one of my favorite of the two, but it was a well done song.

24. Vong Gac Dem Suong
Nhu Quynh’s voice sound so strong and amazing in this song. Her vibrato is breathtaking and it makes the song sound much better then it already is. Another great song from the CD and I enjoy it very much.

25. Ngoai O Den Vang
The song sounded very pop at the beginning which was quite fresh for Nhu Quynh, but then it turn into a pop country type of song. It was quite new and refreshing to hear something new out of Nhu Quynh in this CD because throughout the CD you only hear country or ballad. One of my favorite songs from the CD because not just that it was different, but it’s great to listen to and Nhu Quynh sounds so fun and hype.

Overall: I thought the CD was delivered magnificently by Nhu Quynh and her guest artistes. Between the two disks I would say I enjoyed the second disk much more because it had more new and fresh sound while the first had old song, but it’s not bad either. There were a few songs that I didn’t quite enjoy, but mainly I enjoy listening to the CD a lot. Therefore I recommend all Nhu Quynh’s fans or anti-fans to go grab a copy; please buy original products to support the singers and Thuy Nga. I guarantee all you Nhu Quynh fans will surely enjoy and love the CD and all you anti-fans will begin to enjoy her voice.

Nguyen Ngoc Ngan vs. Nguyen Cao Ky Duyen

A music production need a great MC to start, opens, and make the show flows. Luckily for Thuy Nga – they have two, Nguyen Ngoc Ngan and Nguyen Cao Ky Duyen. Everyone that watch Viet music then they should know that these two are not just good MC, but they are great MC. However, once again in a Thuy Nga showdown it doesn’t matter how great you are, it’s how likable you are.

Round 1 – Entertaining

A successful show need that ‘it’ person that make everything fun, exciting, and entertaining to watch. Even if Nguyen Ngoc Ngan is quite funny at times, Ky Duyen nails the entertainment part of the show. She makes the show more easy and fun to listen and watch. Therefore Ky Duyen takes the first round.

Round 2 – Knowledge

Even though Ky Duyen is the entertainment of the show Nguyen Ngoc Ngan is the root and soul of the show. He is so intelligent and smart – teaching and telling what he knows through out his life which is respected among the elder peoples and idols by the younger generation. So Nguyen Ngoc Ngan wins this round for sure.

Final Round – Being an MC

No doubt both Nguyen Ngoc Ngan and Ky Duyen are amazing MC, but who is that ‘it’ MC that everyone love and enjoy. That person is determine by you, fans, so enjoy and have fun!

When my friends and I first arrived at Dallas, TX outside of the super market, Hong Kong, Lynda Trang Dai was performing a Vietnamese song that I don’t ever recall her singing. When we reached the location Lynda finishes her solo and Tommy Ngo came out to rap the first part of ‘Loi Anh Hua’ and he sounded fabulous – just like on Paris by Night. When Linda started singing I thought she would sound different for some reason, but she amazes me by sounding amazing. After they finish that song, they sang ‘Yeu Lam Chi’ which got the crowd crazy. Linda and Tommy were very seductive and sexual on stage because they were skin on skin.

Linda then introduce us to Manh Quynh, who started off with some song that I don’t remember because I was in a rush to go get a picture with Tommy and Linda. Not that I don’t like Manh Quynh, but I’ve met him before so I wasn’t excited to meet him again. Manh Quynh sang three slow and sad songs like always which causes his fan to scream.

Manh Quynh then introduce Ngoc Huyen to the stage, she sounds so sweet and innocent. The way she talk is very high class; using big vocabularies. Ngoc Huyen starts off singing another song that I don’t remember because I don’t listen to her music. After that song she sang ‘Chuyen Tinh Lan Va Diep’. I must say that she have the brightest, loveliest smile out of the entire singers I’ve met. I was then distracted by seeing Don Ho and Loan Chau therefore I left to go get a picture therefore I didn’t listen on, but I do know that Ngoc Huyen sang around 5 – 6 songs.

After Ngoc Huyen finish her last piece a man then brought Don Ho to the stage which was return by a loud round of applause. Don Ho was so energetic, humorous, and alive. He started with ‘Tai Vi Do La Em’ which he sounded fantastic – he then sang one slow song and one fast song. Don Ho was the only singer there that got the crowd hype and excited – fans actually sang along, raise their hands, and some even dance along. After this concert I have added Don Ho to my favorite list; not because I love his type of music, but that he’s so funny and makes you laugh.

When Don Ho went down to the audience for donations Loan Chau rock the stage with ‘Ghe Ben Sai Gon’. At first I was not use to her voice because is sounded a bit different from videos. However, after she sang ‘Anh Hay Noi’ I could finally adjust with her voice and at that moment I realize she sound so beautiful. Loan Chau then ask the audience if they wanted a fat or slow song – we scream fast and she sang ‘Sai Gon Oi’. I was quite disappointed with her song choice because I wanted her to pick a song from her amazing CD “Khuc Tuong Phung”.

The concert then stops for awhile for the singers to sell CD, the bands to rest, and for the fans to meet their idols. The only singers that sold CD were Ngoc Huyen, Manh Quynh, and Linda Trang Dai which was disappointing because I wanted an autograph from Loan Chau, Don Ho, and Tommy Ngo. The singers at this concert were very shy especially Tommy; who disappear after his performance with Linda.

The show continues with the hilarious Van Son and Bao Liem, who got so much laughs from the audience. Van Son and Bao Liem are so funny to the point when the microphone went out they could still got the crowd laughing. Indeed they are both great comedian. Only disappointment for me was that I didn’t get to get a picture with any of them because they also disappear after their performance.

After the skit Tommy Ngo got on the stage out of no where and sang ‘Would You Dance?’ or something like that. Tommy really got the fans screaming – it got louder when Lynda came up and they sang ‘Loi To Tinh De Thuong 2’.

Manh Quynh once again came back on stage to sing, but then we decided to go home because we got a picture from all the singers except for the comedian.

Overall, the concert was very enjoyable and fun because I got to see Loan Chau – one of biggest Vietnamese idol. From first appearance Lynda look very diva-esh, but if you talk to her she is very sweet and nice. Tommy is extremely shy and quite; all he say is thank you and then walks away. Don Ho is just hilarious and funny every time you talk to him – he’s just funny and energetic. Loan Chau is plain sweet and gorgeous in real life. Ngoc Huyen smile is breathtaking – the dimple and bright smile is to die for. As you all know this is my second time seeing Manh Quynh, but actually the first time I got to take a picture with him, he’s very nice and funny at time. All in all it was fun and exciting – hope to see them again in the near future.

Disc 1

1. Con Thuong Rau Dang Moc Sau He
This song brings us back to the beginning of Nhu Quynh’s amazing journey. You can obviously tell that her voice was soft, but still strong and passionate and I think that’s why so many fans love her voice so much. The song was great and excellently delivers by Nhu Quynh – she has such a strong and poignant voice that is so mystical and beautiful to listen to.

2. Dem Chon Dau Vuot Bien
The ocean’s wave hitting the shore of the ocean sound at the beginning of the song was plainly beautiful. When her first note was sung, Nhu Quynh sounded so beautiful and she continues to sound magnificent as the song progresses. Then suddenly the song began to go faster which was a bit unexpected, but it works well.

3. Nguoi Ngoai Pho
One of my favorite songs sang by Nhu Quynh – the lyrics and beat to the song added with Nhu Quynh’s amazing and extraordinary voice the song was just perfect. I remember that she sang this song on Paris by Night 72 and at that time I fell in love with her voice even more then I was already before.

4. Noi Lai Tinh Xua [ft. Manh Quynh]
This song reminds me of another song Nhu Quynh had sung before which I don’t recall the name, but it sound so familiar. Once again Nhu Quynh dominated the song with her extravagant voice and with Manh Quynh’s unique voice; the song is one of my favorite duet between the two to this date.

5. Cho Anh Ben Doi
An amazing ballad added with a ‘que huong’ feeling to it. The song is very easy to listen to and is extremely romantic; another great song presented by Nhu Quynh. I’m quite surprise that 5 out of 5 song I have review, I have not say anything bad about this CD.

6. LK: Con Duong Xua Em Di & Xin Anh Giu Tron Tinh Que [ft. Truong Vu]
I don’t know when I became a Nhu Quynh and Truong Vu fan, but this song made me more of their fan because they sound so fabulous together. When their voices blend together, they sound remarkable – no wonder why they are today best ‘que huong’ singer.

7. Xuan Mong Cho
The flute playing at the beginning was breathtaking and stupendous – it takes you to another place dreamy and beautiful. The moment Nhu Quynh began to sing, she sounds terrific. The beat and background music makes her sound so fantastic and fantasy like; just beautiful sounding.

8. LK: Truong Chi My Nuong & Chuyen Tinh Ben Nhanh Song Gay [ft. Lam Nhat Tien]
This was one of my favorite songs during Paris by Night 71 because it was unique and beautiful. Nhu Quynh looks so beautiful in the light blue ancient costume. I really had no idea how Nhu Quynh and Lam Nhat Tien’s voice would blend together, but after listening to it their voice matches and blended together in perfectly. The song and lyrics was beautiful; however, the storyline was so sad to watch because My Nuong rejected Truong Chi because he didn’t have the ideal look she was expecting. Even though I love the first part of the song I have to say Chuyen Tinh Ben Nhanh Song Gay was so beautifully sang by Lam Nhat Tien.

9. Nua Vang Trang
Nhu Quynh sang her heart out the first time in Paris by Night 68 and till this day when you listen to it, you can tell that she gave her all to the performance. The song demanded a singer that can hit every note from high to low and Nhu Quynh was a great pick.

10. Hoa Buom Ngay Xua [ft. Tran Thai Hoa]
Finally a song that I didn’t enjoy listening to – not that the song or the singers are bad I just didn’t enjoy listening to it. The song was quite hard to sing along and the beat was everywhere. However, Tran Thai Hoa and Nhu Quynh did very well, but if they have chosen a different it would’ve been much better.

11. Do Ai
Another song from this CD that I didn’t enjoy listening to – yes Nhu Quynh sounded beautiful, but I just didn’t like the song. The song could and can turn into a great song if you have the patient to listen to it over and over again. This song is like those songs that you listen to once and never bother to listen to again.

12. Hanh Trang Gia Tu [ft. Truong Vu]
Another phenomenal duet by Nhu Quynh and Truong Vu – I love when they sing together because their voice matches and sound so great together. The song sound like many other song that they had sung together, but I can’t get enough of their duets.

13. Mua Rung
I was totally in love with this song from I first heard it in Paris by Night 74 and still do love it after listening it again right now. I don’t know why but this song just make you feel happy and inspiring.

14. Nho
I was disappointed with this song because it was quite boring and bland to listen to. However, Nhu Quynh still sounded amazingly graceful and beautiful – She never lets down her listener. That’s why she is such an amazing singer.

Overall, I thought that the first fourteenth songs were extremely enjoyable and from it being so great I will be expecting more high quality and excellent songs choice from the wonderful Nhu Quynh. I’m not that worry because I know this CD is product and sang by Nhu Quynh.

Bao Han vs. Nhu Loan

Bao Han and Nhu Loan are two of the hottest Vietnamese singer to this day. You can’t deny that both of them are extremely gorgeous and talented. However, in Thuy Nga showdown there is only one winner and that winner is pick out by you! So enjoy the 7th Thuy Nga Showdown.

Round 1 – Voice

There is no need to compare between Bao Han and Nhu Loan voice because obviously Bao Han has the stronger and better voice. Nhu Loan has this sweet, but weak voice which makes her sound amateur some times. Therefore I have to give the first round to grand voice Bao Han.

Round 2 – Stage Presence

When I first started listening to Vietnamese music was around Paris By Night 65 [Yeu] and I can say that I dislike Bao Han to the bones, but enjoy Nhu Loan a lot. Bao Han is one of my favorite singers right now, but at first glance I just dislike her. Therefore the second goes to the sweet Nhu Loan.

Final Round – Beauty

Both Bao Han and Nhu Loan has undeniable beauty – I think both are equally beautiful. However, there is one winner so it’s up to you, fans, to pick out the true winner between these two.

Tux Master: Roni Trong vs. Mai Tien Dung

Both Roni and Mai Tien Dung had the tux top and jeans bottom – the only thing different was the color and inside shirt. I do think both of their style is equally great, I have to give the tux master title to Mai Tien Dung literally because I like the color of his tux more.

‘Winner’ Look: David Meng vs. Trinh Lam

David is the peoples’ choice and Trinh Lam is judges’ choice – both winners. However, who is the better dresser? David dresses simple – a shirt, jacket, and jeans. Sometimes dressing like that for a winner seems a bit too casual and simple. Trinh Lam on the other hand tries to dress more like a celebrity with matching rocker outfit. This also got him the ‘Winner’ look title.

Most Simple Look: Mai Tien Dung vs. Huy Tam

Every male artist during Paris by Night wore something over their t-shirt except for Mai Tien Dung, Huy Tam, and Sunny Luong. I compare these two but not Sunny because they sore buttons up shirt. Mai Tien Dung shirt had more patterns and uniqueness, but Huy Tam gave a more innocent yet seductive look. Therefore I have to give the title to Huy Tam.

Best Tie: Tran Thai Hoa vs. Roni Trong

I was quite surprise that these are the only two that wore a tie during such a huge event because usually during an event male seem to always wear tuxedo; adding with a decent tie. Tran Thai Hoa went with a decent yet too simple tie which also made him lose to Roni for best tie. Roni’s tie has more uniqueness and style then Tran Thai Hoa’s purple tie.

‘Number One’ Color Tuxido: Quang Dung vs. Nguyen Hung

From their shoes to their shirt they had the same color from top to bottom. Quang Dung made a tan color tuxedo fashionable while Nguyen Hung stuck with the memorable black suit. I have to say that the sparkling from the tan, Quang Dung tuxedo looks extremely cool while Nguyen Hung looks too bland. So the number one color tuxedo title goes to Quang Dung and his sparkling tan tuxedo.

Most Unique: Van Phi Thong vs. Tran Thai Hoa

From a traditional dress covering jeans to hood inside shirt and tuxedo Van Phi Thong and Tran Thai Hoa could say to be the most unique and different from the rest f the gentlemen. However, I have to give the title simply to Tran Thai Hoa because you never see any one wear something like Tran Thai Hoa, but you can see a bunch of ‘que huong’ male singer wear what Van Phi Thong is wearing.

Most Creative Shirt: Ngo Quang Minh vs. Sunny Luong

Ngo Quang Minh tries to dress formal and high fashion while Sunny is more of the cool and ganster type. However, it’s not about what their style is, but it’s about the way their shirt are design. The red flowers on Ngo Quang Minh made it look formal, but not feminine while Sunny gray cool shirt just seem cool. So I would have to give the title to Ngo Quang Minh just for the red flowers designs.

Rocker Champ: Nguyen Hung vs. Trinh Lam

Both Nguyen Hung and Trinh Lam wore what a rocker would wear – from the leather jacket to the black and white design. Trinh Lam look rocking and cool, but Nguyen Hung jacket gave him more style, taste, and personalities which also made him win the rocker champ.

Ocean Beauty: Ngoc Loan vs. Ngoc Lien

In an ocean water blue traditional dress and matching eye shadow, Ngoc Loan looks beautiful. Ngoc Lien on the other hand picked a darker color of blue; adding with flowers design which makes her dress looks absolutely gorgeous. Therefore Ngoc Lien would beat Ngoc Loan as the Ocean Beauty.

Pink Goddess: Huong Giang vs. Ngoc Lien

Huong Giang wore a flowery color pink dress showing feelings and emotion of the season, spring. While Ngoc Lien wore another pink piece with piece tied around her waist. Both of Huong Giang and Ngoc Lien look dreamingly sexy, but I have to give the title of being the pink goddess to Huong Giang because her dress gave her more of a curve while Ngoc Lien’s gave her no curves.

Prom Queen: Quynh Vi vs. Khanh Ha

Both Quynh Vi and Khanh Ha picked a gown to perform. With Quynh Vi in a blue and pink flower dress while Khanh Ha look stunning in a black gown. Quynh Vi’s dress was a bit over the top with the blue flowers running down the dress. However, Khanh Ha look sizzling from top to bottom which won her to Prom Queen Title.

Worst bottom part of dress: Hoai Phuong vs. Luu Bich

No doubt that Hoai Phuong and Luu Bich both has horrible looking skirt. Hoai Phuong’s skirt look raggedy and cheap making her look like a prostitute; worst is her see-through shirt, but her boots look cool. Luu Bich’s dress is not hard to look at, but the two spilt just ruin the dress – either then that the dress is quite nice. So the winner of this title is obviously Hoai Phuong, she also brought home the worst dress artist – that’s two DVD in a row (PBN 86 & 87).

Leopard Queen: Khanh Ha vs. Ky Duyen

Leopard skin is one of the most use animal skins to make dress, gown, shirt, ect. because it looks great. Obviously both Khanh Ha and Ky Duyen look wonderful in their own unique style; however, I must say that Khanh Ha look better just because it wasn’t too much like what Ky Duyen had done. Ky Duyen went from top to bottom – even her hair matches. Way too much! Therefore Khanh Ha takes home the Leopard Queen.

Traditional Cutie: Tam Doan vs. Ngoc Loan

Vietnamese lady always look at their best while wearing traditional dress and it shows because both Tam Doan and Ngoc Loan look stunning. In a variety of purple dress Tam Doan look beautiful; however, he make-up made her look old therefore I have to give the Traditional Cutie to Ngoc Loan and her black/yellow flowery traditional dress.

Mermaid Excellent: Trieu Bao Vi vs. Ky Duyen

Trieu Bao Vi picked a mermaid shape dress which always show off a woman’s curve while Ky Duyen pick a mermaid color dress. I have to give this title to Trieu Bao Vi because her dress shows more of her curve and make her look extremely sexy and seductive.

Most Glamorous: Huong Giang vs. Quynh Vi

Standing side by side both Huong Giang and Quynh Vi looks glamorously beautiful. Huong Giang looks so bright and stunning with her tan color dress and golden belt showing off once again her curve. In a purple slower dress Quynh Vi look equally beautiful to Huong Giang therefore I have to say this round is a tie between the two.

Red Hot beauty: Tam Doan vs. Tu Quyen

In a burning red hot traditional dress Tam Doan manage to look sexy while traditional and pure. Tu Quyen on the other hand looks absolutely sizzling in a kimono with a corset that shows off her curve magnificently - adding to the hotness the two split beside her dress shows off her beautiful legs perfectly. Therefore I have to give the Red Hot Beauty Title to the stunning Tu Quyen.

Huynh Gia Tuan Vs. Roni Trong

Both Huynh Gia Tuan and Roni first appear on Thuy Nga Paris by Night 84 [Passport to Music and Fashion]. They sing and dance alike; however, in the Thuy Nga showdown there can be only one winner and you know how that winner is determine.

Round 1 – Stage Presence

Huynh Gia Tuan gave the audience some entertainment in his first solo song “Girls” which made fans go crazy for him. While Roni Trong brought along his Finland talents on stage and rocked the stage with “Call Me”. However, I must say that Roni gave a bigger impression then Huynh Gia Tuan did maybe because he had more of a storyline behind his life which causes the audience to want more.

Round 2 – Viet

In both “Call Me” and “All I Want” Roni sang in English and that’s his main language to sing in, but recently in PBN 87 he sang with four contestants in “Vang Trang Khoc” and I have to say that his Viet are weak. I can understand that it’s not his comfort zone therefore I have to give it to Huynh Gia Tuan the second round for sounding better in Viet.

Final Round – Music

R&B is both Huy Gia Tuan and Roni’s music style of singing – both sounds great singing this type of music. However; like I have mention above that there can be one winner so I will give it to you to pick out the 6th Thuy Nga showdown winner. Have fun and Enjoy!

PARIS BY NIGHT 87 - TALENT SHOW FINALS 2007

1. Ngoi Sao Dem Nay (Fame) – 13 Contestants
This was a great song to open the show because it’s fun, exciting, and fun which catches the audiences’ attention. I also love how they started both PBN 86 and 87 with the dancers because they are such talented peoples. Basically it was a great and fun song it to open the show.

2. Top 7 contestant
Ky Duyen made it more interesting and fun with the elimination which really shows how great an MC she is. When Ky Duyen told Trinh Lam to step over to the side of To Chan Phong I knew that was the winner side. I was happy with mostly all the contestants, but I really thought that Sunny Luong or Huy tam should have been in the top 7. I was not surprise that they save Ngoc Loan because from all the contestants Ngoc Loan did have one of the highest score.

3. All I want – Roni Trong
First off, I love this song and I have been listening to it for quite awhile already. Roni has a great voice and is a great performer. Having Roni song in this show was great because he has been through it all and can help the contestants through this and that.

4. Nguoi Dan Ong Chan That – David Meng
The song is an extremely good song, but David voice is too weak for such a strong song, I will still give him credit for being Cambodian. Every time he try to sing a high note, his voice scratches and it’s hard to listen to. However, I think that this was a better song for him to sing then the last.

5. Noi Buon Chim Sao – Ngoc Loan
Ngoc Loan has a great ‘que huong’ voice and Thuy Nga need more of these kind of voice because there are not a lot of great ‘que huong’ singer that could join Thuy Nga. As for the song, it was a huge disappointment because her previous song was so much better for her amazing voice. The song made her high pitch note sounded flat because she’s still new and is not use to going from such a low note to a high note.

6. Co Phai Em Mua Thu Ha Noi – Huong Giang
Huong Giang’s voice is so grand and extravagant. The song was great for her voice because the song showcase her strong voice well. The song she picks last time was not bad, but this song is much better and she seems more comfortable – not so stiff. She sounds so sweet and innocent in her interview with Ky Duyen which put a smile to your face.

8. Mua Hong – Quynh Vi
No doubt Quynh Vi has an extraordinary voice, but I thought she could’ve picked a much better song. I’m not saying the song is bad, I just think her past song was better and more entertaining. However, she was much more into her performance this time.

9. Bay Cung Tinh Yeu – Mai Tien Dung
Obviously this was not a song for him to sing because it made his voice sound weak and boring. The song was not a great song in the first place; therefore I would pick his other song over this song by a mile. It shows that he tries to make the song more entertaining and that’s all he could’ve done because the song choice was bad.

10. Gio Cung Tinh Yeu – Tran Thai Hoa
I don’t like the type of song he sings but I like the way he sing – he sound so into the song and it’s great because a singer must be know and love the song to make the listener love the song or enjoy it. His last note blew me away because his voice sounded amazing and I also think that this was a better song then the last song Tran Thai Hoa had sang.

11. Mot Lan Cuoi – Trinh Lam
What can I say about Trinh Lam, but that he is a great singer, composer and performer? I know that he will be a great success if he continues to do all three because it would be a waste if he doesn’t. The song was an acceptable song but it wasn’t great like his other song that he composed.

12. Tinh Yeu Voi Di – Ngoc Lien
Ngoc Lien performs the song well and I think that Duc Huy could agree with me because he had a satisfying face after the song was finish. If you know me then you must know that I don’t really like Ngoc Lien, but I have to say that she sounded pleasing in this song.

13. Hai Kich : Mong Ca Si – Hoai Linh, Chi Tai, Huu Loc, and Calvin Hiep
The new comedian Huu Loc is not funny or entertaining at all – he exaggerated way to much to the point that I got annoy by him. Calvin Hiep acted well as the old man and Chi Tai was Ok, but the skit got funny when Hoai Linh appears. No wonder he is today funniest comedian – his imitation of Tuan Ngoc, Thai Thanh, ect. were hilarious and very real especially Tuan Ngoc.

14. Chieu Mot Minh Qua Pho & Chi Co Mot Thoi – Quang Dung
Quang Dung sounded great in both of the song – he is officially a legend and it was great for him to sing in a talent show because it shows the contestants what a great voice sounds like. His performance is so natural and comfortable – maybe because he has performed for so long.

15. Unchain My Heart – Khanh Ha, Hoai Phuong, and Trinh lam
Khanh Ha is unbelievable amazing so we don’t need to talk about her – wow she sound amazing. Trinh Lam and Hoai Phuong Phuong both sounded good especially Hoai Phuong because her last performance was not so great, but she sounded amazing in this song. Both Trinh Lam and Hoai Phuong look like they had fun during the performance which is great because this show is what it’s for. Picking Trinh Lam and Hoai Phuong to sing this song was great because they both have such a strong voice. Adding with that the diva, Khanh Ha was even more pleasing.

16. Chong Xa – Tam Doan, Ngoc Loan, and Van Phi Thong
Tam Doan sound so beautiful – no wonder why they pick her to show these wannabe singers how it’s done. Ngoc Loan voice matches so well with Tam Doan which shows that she has the potential to be a great singer just like Tam Doan. While Van Phi Thong was more like a back up singer then a main singer to Tam Doan and Ngoc Loan.

17. Vang Trang Khoc – Roni Trong, Mai Tien Dung, Trieu Bao Vi, Huong Giang, and Quynh Vi
This song is to be sang by two people and two people only; a group of five ruined the song; not that this group of singer are bad, but it seem crowded. Roni Trong actually sound like a contestant then a singer which is a bit embarrass – maybe because he’s not use to be singing in Viet. Quynh Vi really did over shine all of the other contestants – Thuy Nga should have spilt them up and let either Mai Tien Dung to sing with Luu Bich or Quynh Vi with Tu Quyen. Not that a great duet because I think Quynh Vi and Tu Quyen would sound great together.

18. Cat Bui Tinh Xa – Ngoc Lien, Tran Thai Hoa, Ngo Quang Minh, and Huy Tam
Both Ngo Quang Minh and Tran Thai Hoa sounded great, but Huy Tam sounded irregular; maybe because he doesn’t sing these types of songs. He was just there, not much enjoying the song or performance. Ngoc Lien voice once again sounded great in this song.

19. Tra Het Cho Nguoi – Nguyen Hung, Sunny Luong, and David Meng
This is such a fun and entertaining song to listen to. Nguyen Hung voice still sound so great and no wonder why they let him teach the other how to sing. Sunny Luong sounded extremely well, but David sounded weird. I think that if Sunny pick this song for his first performance then he would’ve gotten into the top 7.

20. Song Ve Dua – Khanh Ha
When Khanh Ha sings her voice causes you to day dream about what she is singing. Her voice is grand and sizzling! You just have to fall in love with it. The song made her voice sounded even better then before. Her high notes are breathtaking.

21. Cho Vua Long Em – Tam Doan
Tam Doan sounded great in this song – it seem like this song is written for her. She must have been emotional singing in front of the composer, Nhat Ngan, because she almost cry singing the song.

22. Biet Lam Gi Hon – Nguyen Hung
Another great performance by Nguyen Hung - I just love his voice. It started out good with the vocal and voice, but became even better when it got faster with the dancers; gave the song more excitement and fun.

23. Sometimes When We Touch – Luu Bich
The song is romantically great for Luu Bich voice because she sounded dreamy in this song. The English start was good, but the Viet part was much better because I like the lyrics much better and she sounded much better. The dancers once again did great.

24. Con Lai Nho Thuong – Tu Quyen
No doubt Tu Quyen sounded great to me because she’s my favorite singer. I have heard Tu Quyen sing live before and I must say she sound exactly like she would in real live – sexy and amazing. She has this sexiness in her voice when she sings which I love so much. Adding to the great sound is her cute smile and dimples – who can hate her? It was also so cute when the song ended and she turns over and gave a huge smile to the dancers.

25. Ending Results:
I was sure from the beginning that Trinh Lam would already won either Peoples’ choice or Judges’ choice so I wasn’t surprise he won. When it got down to David Meng and Quynh Vi you could feel the love for Quynh Vi. I wanted her to win so much, but it turn out to be David. I guess it’s because he was Cambodian and that is unique. I know for sure that Quynh Vi will be a great singer later on if she continue to pursue in the Viet music industry.

Overall:
The show was well done and I can tell you that you can appreciate if you give it a chance. This is Thuy Nga’s first time and they did a well job, but it could’ve been better. The only thing pulling the show from being excellent was not having great MCs – Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Ngan. Yes, Ky Duyen was great but the other two made the show miserable to watch. However, I still recommended to you if you haven’t had a chance to watch both PBN 86 & 86.

American Idol is today hottest talents search show in the world, discovering some of today hottest singer such as; Kelly Clarkson, Ruben, Fantasia, Carrie Underwood, Taylor Hicks, and the most recently Jordin Sparks. The show starts off going around the U.S having peoples with a dream to audition for that one chance to be famous. Thousands of peoples audition but only 24 makes it to Hollywood and then it goes down to one winner. Throughout their journey they perform once a week and is eliminated one by one. After the success of American Idol some have try to do the same thing and in the past few months Thuy Nga created a talent show searching for the most talented singer and performer to be apart of the Paris By Night huge family. After weeks and months of hardship listening to auditions they discover 13 top singers. A fantastic show performs to the audience [PBN 86 – Semi final] separated the good singer from the amazing singer. From 13 they reduce to 7 sizzling singer in [PBN 87 – finale] and from that they discover 2 winners – the judges’ choice and people’s choice.

After the Thuy Nga Talent Show finale finish, American Idol started to go down into their finale. All of the results from American Idol seem to look like the Thuy Nga Talent Search. Thuy Nga eliminated singer by singer until there were only 3 singers standing on stage; Trinh Lam, David Meng, and Quynh Vi; while the American Idol stage stands Jordin Sparks, Blake Lewis and Melinda Doolittle. From the start fans have deliberated that either Trinh Lam or Quynh Vi would win the competition for Thuy Nga and Jordin Sparks or Melinda Doolittle would win for American Idol.

Trinh Lam won the Judges’ Choice award and Melinda Doolittle was eliminated getting third place, but had won over the judges choice with flying colors – even to the point that Simon thought she was the winner before the top 2 was announce. All of the results from American Idols seem to be the same as Thuy Nga such as; Quynh Vi and Jordin Sparks, the amazing vocalists, going against the unique and talented David Meng and Blake Lewis. However, the end result was the only thing that came out differently. Simon Cowell once mentions that, “this show is about the voice” and I agree fully. Thuy Nga has great performers, but not a lot vocalist. Throughout the 6 years of American Idols the vocalist had always beaten the entertainer. Everyone can agree that Quynh Vi has an amazing voice just like Jordin Sparks while both David Meng and Blake Lewis are unique and entertaining. David is trying out for a Vietnamese contest but he is a Cambodian native speaker and Blake Lewis has amazing beat boxing skills which lead him to go all the way to the top.

Conclusion:
So is the Thuy Nga Talent Search the opposite of American Idol? Tell me what you feel and think about this situation – should the vocalist win over the entertainer or the other way around?

Phi Nhung Vs. Huong Thuy

Phi Nhung and Huong Thuy are both known for their great ‘que huong’ voice and their cute personalities. They both have that ‘it’ thing that makes peoples adore and love them as a singer. However, in the Thuy Nga showdown only one winner will win and that person is chosen by you fans. So let the 5th showdown begins.

Round 1 – Manh Quynh

Basically both Phi Nhung and Huong Thuy look cute and sound great together with Manh Quynh. However, I must say that fans would pick Phi Nhung over Huong Thuy any days depending on the chemistry between Phi Nhung and Manh Quynh. Their chemistry was amazing on stage and off – it was so great that peoples around the world thought they were a married couple. Therefore, Phi Nhung won the first round.

Round 2 – Elegant

I know that Phi Nhung’s fans would kill me for this, but I really do think that Huong Thuy has more of that elegant look to her. I’m not saying that Phi Nhung is sloppy or dirty, but she seems more like a tomboy. While Huong Thuy always try to act with grace and gentle onstage with her both her hand to her waist and the slow walk, ect.

Final Round – Voice

Like I have mentioned above that they are amazing and talented female ‘que huong’ singer and I really don’t know who has a better voice therefore I leave that choice to you, fans. Good luck and have fun!

Analyzing the song
The song speaks of a girl, Minh Tuyet, who sits and stare at the magnificent full moon and thinks about her love. As the snow floats slowly down from the sky, tears began to form in her swollen – red eyes. Hoping for the day where that person would come back into her arms. However, she knew that it would never happen because their love has vanished into thin air. Her love has beginning to drift away like the full and bright moon beginning to be covers by the dark clouds. Begging and hoping for that person returns, but she realize that she have lost him forever.

Thoughts:
Having Minh Tuyet to sing such a wonderful song was just great because this song need someone that could put their feelings and emotion into the song. Minh Tuyet extended the song and made it her own – best version thus far. Her pitch and note were close or even flawless. I understand that she was singing live and the microphone jacked up, but she still kept her cool and sounded fabulous. This song has wonderful lyrics and I just love this wonderful song.

Quang Le Vs. Manh Quynh

Both Quang Le and Manh Quynh are known for their ability to sing ‘que huong’ and ‘vong co’. As the younger generations of music are getting more popular, this type of music is getting lost. Therefore, Thuy Nga is very fortunate to have two strong singers like Quang Le and Manh Quynh in this section of music.

Round 1 – Persona

To me Quang Le has a better persona then Manh Quynh because when you look at Quang Le, he would always smile and it’s very welcoming to watch. However; when Manh Quynh is onstage he would give this sorrow and sad look. Yes! I know that sometime grieving faces are requiring for certain songs, but there something cold and unease. Therefore, the winner of round one is Quang Le.

Round 2 – Selections

Both, Quang Le and Manh Quynh, are great singers and they both sing similarly the same type of songs. They both make the standard of a used song sound fabulous and new to listen to. I have to give round two to Manh Quynh even if I think both of them have great taste in picking songs, but I give Manh Quynh credits for using his own written songs.

Final Round – Voice

No doubt that both, Quang Le and Manh Quynh, have an amazing voice and establish to make any song sound fantastically new. However; there can only be one winner and I will leave the hard task to you fans.

Both Van Quynh and Angela Tram Anh are still consider as newbies; however, their voices are more demanding then most of the professional singers. Van Quynh win over many fans with her resemblelance to Minh Tuyet, but slowly found her own uniqueness, while Angela Tram Anh sang dramatically into many open mind.

Round 1 – Stage Pressence

Van Quynh appear in Thuy Nga 72 [Tieng Hat Tu Nhip Tim] where she showcase her first performance ‘Uoc Gi’ and Angela Tram Anh appear in Thuy Nga 81 [Am Nhat Khong Bien Gioi] where she sang a duet with Hollie Thanh Ngoc in ‘My Way’. For stage pressence I must say Angela won over Van Quynh by miles because when Van Quynh first appears, she chose a bad song to showcase her voice and she didn’t win over her fans till later on. However, when Angela Tram Anh appears in PBN 81 she immediately won over many fans.

Round 2 – Uniqueness

Angela Tram Anh might have a better stage pressence, but Van Quynh’s uniqueness and punk is unbelievable. Yes! People started to notice Van Quynh because she slightly resemblance Minh Tuyet; however, she soon found her ability to set herself away from Minh Tuyet. Therefore round two goes to Van Quynh for her ability to stand out from seas of singers.

Final Round – Look

Both of Van Quynh and Angela Tram Anh are gorgeous lady with an astonish face structures. Van Quynh has that cute yet very sophisticated look while Angela is a stunning and bright lady. So I will leave it to you, fans, to decided to is the winner of the third Thuy Nga showdown.

Welcome to Entertaining You. PBN 86 semi-final fashion review. Two days ago you all enjoy the special: red carpet review with Loan Chau. This review was suppose to be next week; however, the showdown was move to next week therefore you will be with me, Nguyen Cao Ky Duyen, where I will take you inside the show to see who look rocked their outfit and who fell flat.

Best Overall Look: Ky Duyen

It's not just that I am indescribably gorgeous: it's that I carries dresses so well and makes great fashion choices.

The pink and white dress I wore at the beginning of the show signaled a fashion romantic spring feeling. For the second part of the show I follow with a blue/purple dress where I paired with a dazzling pair of earrings. I absolutely look at my best during the show.

Modern Icon – Minh Tuyet

Minh Tuyet has left the days of princess pink dresses behind.

She worked the red carpet in a yellow – muster gown with plenty of modern detailing that accentuated her curves. Now she open the show with a white silky shirt that tie a knot at the middle and lead it’s way down to her knees; a very fashionable and sexy shirt.

Best Color: Ngoc Loan

Let other singers try to wear trendy colors that don't flatter their coloring. Ngoc Loan in her green and butterfly pattern dress was absolutely stunning. Paired with her long hair (worn loose) and not-too-ostentatious earrings, Ngoc Loan was gorgeous.

Best Cutie Girl: Huong Giang

From her elegant, white and innocent ‘ao dai’, Huong Giang was every inch to being the best cutie girl of the event. Even her smile look innocent and cute (doesn’t seem fake like other singers).

Best Vintage Look: Quynh Vi

Lots of singers try to wear a vintage color dress, but somehow, on Quynh Vi vintage looks completely right. The pale green dress with a slit down on the side show off her appealing pair of legs and matching earrings were soft and sweet.

True Fashionista – Y Lan

Certain singers have such a strong individual vibe that they would be lost in a simple ‘ao dai’. However, Y Lan made the simple silver ‘ao dai’ a knockout, with subtle monochromatic neck piece and appealing head piece.

Flawless (Again) – Minh Tuyet

Minh Tuyet is a red carpet style icon because her fashion choices are so absolutely perfect, like this simple metallic shirt and matching blue jeans. What makes it even more amazing is that it all seems effortless for Minh Tuyet.

Minh Tuyet: Lady in Red

Red is a great attention getter, and Minh Tuyet got lots in her fiery - hued dress. Paired with the dress is a pair of red earrings and sparkling bracelet.

Best ensemble: Tran Thai Hoa

Tran Thai Hoa wore one of the most sophisticated ensembles of the night. His suit is perfectly paired with a white spread-collar shirt and stripe black - white tie.

Best Twist: Contestant Tran Thai Hoa

Tran Thai Hoa looks decent in a formal suit, but he gave it a new twist. He has done just this by excluding the expected tie and sporting a silk undershirt instead which comment with his milky white tuxedo.

Simple and Cool: Sunny Luong

Sunny looks simple, retro and cool. It seem like he brought his whole personalities onto stage with his sense of fashion.

Spectacular: Mai Tien Dung

Mai Tien Dung was definitely one of the best dressed men of the night. His black tux and white shirt was nothing short of spectacular.

The Not so Original: Van Phi Thong

Van Phi Thong was daring by wearing a traditional ‘ao dai’ because none of the male contestants wore one, it was not only original, but sharp.

Worst Dressed: Hoai Phuong

At the age of 29 Hoai Phuong looks old with the make-up and old fashion shirt and pants. The leather baby blue turtle nect shirt with the missing side screams “the designer forgot to finish my shirt”.

Desperation dance: Trieu Bao Vi

Indeed Trieu Bao Vi is a good dancer, but her black see-through shirt and thrifty looking skirt made her look unattractive and cheap.

Sleepy Flower: Tran Thu Ha

Tran Thu Ha’s voice is very well awake, but her look was not wide awake. The visible sleeping gown under a see-through covers sheet made Tran Thu Ha look like she overslept and just came to the show with what she was sleeping in.

Club Anyone?

I must say that Nhu Loan look stunning in the face and during the red carpet with that green and sizzling dress. However, during the performance 'Ve Day Em', Nhu Loan doesn’t look unique. It seem like she just randomly pick a dress that she would wear to a club.

Queen of the Red Carpet – Minh Tuyet

In a sea of pretty dresses, Minh Tuyet almost always manages to look absolutely mesmerizing. For the PBN Talent Search, she wore a dramatic, strap gown in bright yellow adding to that a fabulous smile.

What makes Minh Tuyet such a strong force of fashion? She chooses gowns that show off her great curves and transcend current trends. The dress just complements her curves, beautiful face and glamorous smile.

Don't Let Him Dress Better Than You

Even if you haven’t been in the music or fashion industries don’t let the guy look better. When the guy looks more dolled up than his date – even her son, Beckham, look better then she did -- it's a fashion disaster.

Nhu Loan: Effortlessly Chic

The velvet green dress was definitely the ‘stand out’ of the event. But it was Nhu Loan's interpretation -- a study in contrasts -- that looked fresh and modern.

Nhu Loan paired sleek, center-parted hair in a ponytail with sexy earrings. Her dress was a beautiful shade of green. Most artists would have gone with a big curly updo with the gown to make it look more formal. But Nhu Loan kept the whole look relaxed and elegant.

Khanh Ha and Luu Bich made white boring!

White is known to be one of the most elegant colors during the red carpet; however, Luu Bich and Khanh Ha made it boring and bland. Luu Bich cheap skirt was plain uncalled for. The biggest disappointment has to go to Khanh Ha, who is known for her amazing taste in fashion, flop with the old fashion white blouse and boring black pants.

Classic Culture

Khanh Ly and husband have the celebrity couple thing down. Both look classic Hollywood -- he in a straightforward tux, her in a gorgeous emerald classic ao dai – looking perfectly together.

Black Cutie – Tam Doan

One of the problems that the younger singers have is trying to dress glam, while still dressing their age. In this dark, mysterious and black dress, Tam Doan looks elegant and sexy. Her almost-daytime hair and the girly hairpiece add to the ironic yet innocence of the clothes, which made her look stunning.

Glamour – Thuy Tien and Luong Tung Quang

It's impossible to read about fashion without hearing the phrase "a return to glamour." For singer Thuy Tien, the glam never left. In her richly detailed vanilla gown, she was perfectly princess-like. The princess also added along her prince of shining armor; looking all groom up is Mr. Luong Tung Quang.

Do Compliment Each Other

If you are going with a partner on the red carpet try to always compliment each other just like Van Quynh and Roni with her belt and his tie. Even if the colors of their clothes contradict and look strange together their belt and tie will make bring them back to the good side.

Wrong Everything

Ngoc Lien is the best example of a pretty woman with the wrong make-up on because her make-up made her look dull, bored and sleepy. As for the clothes the purple shirt was extremely boring and unfashionable.

Thumps Down: Quang Le

I like Quang le’s song but not his fashion sense. He somehow always looks over pack; it seem like he can’t decide what to where therefore he put his whole wardrobe on. Quynh Dung didn’t look any better with the not so sizzling ao dai and sloppy hair.

No Great Comeback (in fashion) for Ngoc Anh

What a huge missed opportunity for the confident Ngoc Anh to show how great she is doing after her long disappearance. Ngoc Anh looks short and awful next to the magnificent Loan Chau. The dress look cheap and the color contrast with the red carpet.

From trashy to classy: Ho Le Thu

Ho Le Thu's been known to wear sexy, sleeveless dresses that show to much of her body which take away the beauty from her face, but this night she wore a dark black color overall that cover her every part. However, it let us see how beautiful and gorgeous she really is.

Don't Try to Dress Young

If you're by yourself on the red carpet and you try too hard to dress young (and you're not), you'll stand out a bit. If you're going with a partner who tries too hard to be cool, you'll just look doubly pathetic like Hoai Linh and Huong Thuy did on the red carpet.

Do Dress Like Yourselves

Fashion critics love to pan quirky Truc sister for their off-beat style. But the truth is their look -- more so than their overly styled contemporaries -- seems to reflect their inner selves. And isn't that what true style is all about? The Truc sister looks great from head to toe – very red carpet type of looks.

Do Dress Equally Luxe

Sure, Lynda and Tommy could have both gone with something more low-key and still looked beautiful and hot together. Instead, Tommy experimented with a velvet high class tux and Lynda chose a sexy fur number with major bling.

Rebecca Quynh Giao, one of the many singers in black, that could took sexy to a new level in her mesh-sided, cut-to-there dress. Her sparkling necklace looked modern and showed off her incredible fashion sense.

Most Graceful Fashion Recovery: Tu Quyen

If you've ever tripped or stumbled in heels or a dragging hem, you'll understand how incredible it was that Tu Quyen was able to teeter on falling and then recover from her not so welcome new hair style. Even though Tu Quyen is still keeping her bangs, she still manages to look sexy and magnificent in a black golden border dress. Tagging along her all smiling mother – showing how beautiful their family trait dimples are.

Biggest Fashion Mistake: Thuy Van

With her teased updo and light blue with exaggerated jewelries, Thuy Van look stunningly beautiful; however, her biggest fashion mistake was choosing Tuan Hung as her red carpet partner, he looks drunk and a little high.

Luong Tung Quang has a terrific voice that could rock any pop song, but he lacks the magnificent high pitch tone and vocals like Bang Kieu. Bang Kieu is known for his soulful pitch of his voice and the ability to control his vocals. Therefore, obviously the winner for the first round is Bang Kieu.

Round 2 – Voice

No voice and vocal are extremely two totally different things; vocal could be train and couch while voice is a talent that is given from above. Bang Kieu indeed is an amazing vocalizes, but sometimes his vocal goes too high and it makes him sound like a woman. Even though, Luong Tung Quang doesn’t have that great of an ability to control his vocals, but he has a great singing voice. So the winner of the third round would go to Luong Tung Quang.

Final Round – Music

Both Bang Kieu and Luong Tung Quang have the ability to sing as mention above. However, the most important thing is the ability to choose the right song to showcase their voice. Bang Kieu is known for his triumphed ballad while Luong Tung Quang is recognize for his rock pop. So who is the winner? I will give you guys the chance to pick.

PBN 86 - Talent Search Semi-Final

MCs – Nguyen Van Thinh, Nguyen Cao Ky Duyen,
and To Chan Phong

Ky Duyen is already a professional and she did an amazing job through out the whole show. Fixing and covering the mistakes made by the other two MC; mostly To Chan Phong. I thought that he did a poorly job, but I can understand because he’s is a newbie. However, Nguyen Van Thinh was horrible, it seem like he try too much to make himself sound like Nguyen Ngoc Ngan. His speeches were long, monotonous and boring; fans could agree that Nguyen Ngoc Ngan would have done a way better job. Overall the MCs were quite enjoyable when Ky Duyen talks and the other two listen.

Judges – Nhat Ngan, Khanh Ly, Duc Huy,
Huong Lan, and Huynh Thi

The judges were reasonable, acceptable and unquestionably great I thought every score gave by the judges were properly given out except for Khanh Ly wanting contestant 11, Tran Thai Hoa, to quite singing and pursuit into the medical field. It was amusing to watch Khanh Ly and Duc Huy fight over everything; very much like Simon Cowell and Paula Abdul from American Idol. The judges were well picked because they all had a great opinion and love for music which will indeed give out great score and they did through out the competition.

1. Ai Khong Mot Lan Mo [What a Feeling] – Minh Tuyet, Bang Kieu & 13 contestants

First off I have to give Thuy Nga’s dancers some credit because they did an amazing job opening and making the crowd all hyped up. This really proves why Thuy Nga has some off the most talented dancer and the best choreographer, Mrs. Shanda Shawer. Now to the music I thought having Minh Tuyet and Bang Kieu opening the show with the 13 contestants was a great idea because they are today hottest artist oversea. The song also shows off Minh Tuyet and Bang Kieu strong and magnificent voice. All 13 contestants did a well job and it seems like they had a lot of fun; and that’s what singing is about. They song make you song make you so alive and energetic. What a feeling huh?

2. Ben Gau Cuc Tan - Van Phi Phong

I must agree with Khanh Ly that there are not a lot of que huong singers in the industries of oversea music. We really need more of this kind of singer because it is the root of Vietnamese music. Van Thi Phong has a brilliant voice, but it’s still a bit weak and if he gets more couching then he could become an amazing singer.

3. Xin Loi Em - Davin Meng

I have to give him some credit on being Cambodian that could speak and sing Vietnamese, but his voice is so weak and he couldn’t reach any of his high pitch notes. I also agree with Huong Lan that he should try to pick a more suitable song for himself next time.

4. O Me Ly - Nguyen Huy Tam

Nguyen Huy Tam is a great entertainer because he is not afraid to make himself look silly on stage and it put smiles to his audience and it got everyone involve in his fun. The song was extremely fun to listen to because of how fast and entertaining it is. However, I must agree with Duc Huy and Khanh Ly that the song was extremely fast, but disagree about it not being hearable.

5. Thuong Nho Nguoi Dung - Ngoc Loan

Ngoc Loan sounded professional and she could even be compare to some of Thuy Nga’s que huong singers such as; Phi Nhung and Huong Thuy. I have to agree with Nhat Ngan that her ability to control her voice was just flawless and magnificent and that the song she has chosen showcase her voice perfectly.

6. Ve Day Nghe Em - Huong Giang

I must say that when I saw her sweet face I thought that her voice would be weak, but she blew me away with her demanding strong voice; like they say “don’t judge a book by its cover”. I must agree with Huong Lan that Huong Giang has a great voice, but she doesn’t have enough life experience to relate into the song.

7. Roi Cung Chia Tay - Trieu Bao Vy

Trieu Bao Vy is an average singer, but she is a great entertainer which really helped her with the judge’s score. Duc Huy’s explanations for his score were very reasonable and I thought that I must agree that her performance as a singer were bland, but as a entertainer were done well.

8. Ve Day Em - Nhu Loan

Nhu Loan started off weak and amateur, even to the point that one of my family member that doesn’t watch PBN thought she was one of the contestants. I have always thought that her voice were weak and the beginning of this performance made me think of Nhu Loan as a ‘look’ singer. However, as the song processes I could finally hear a professional singer, but I think Nhu Loan should’ve pick a better song that could gave her voice more dimension.

9. Ngoc Lan - Tran Thu Ha

Hands down to Tran Thu Ha as a legend in the Vietnamese music industries, her voice is splendidly superb. Tran Thu Ha sang beautifully and I want to say to all the contestants to learn from Tran Thu Ha because if you could sing any where near her then you would win for sure.

10. Niem Dau Chod Dau - Quynh Vi

Quynh Vi has the look, voice and a great persona that is very likeable. She is a beauty alright and that’s a plus, but her voice was as beautiful as she is. The song she chose was a great ballad and I must agree with Nhat Ngan that Quynh Vi is near being professional.

11. Hay Nhin Lai Minh Di - Luong Hoang Duc (Sunny Luong)

Sunny Luong song choice was not the best because he couldn’t reach any high notes which cause it hard to listen to. Duc Huy’s comments about the song being a strong type of song and that the vocals in this competition are more important. However, he is a great entertainer and dancer.

12. Chuyen Chang Co Don - Mai Tien Dung

Mai Tien Dung’s voice is indeed weak; however, he picked the right song for his voice which didn’t make his voice sound weak. I have to agree with Nhat Ngan that his voice is indeed very different and that his style of performing is extremely comfortable which is easy to watch, but I hate his little finger.

13. Tinh Nho - contestant Tran Thai Hoa

Tran Thai Hoa is a great singer; his voice is soulful and he has a great tone to his voice. Tinh Nho is an amazing song; however, it’s a very hard song to sing yet he sang very well. I thought Khanh Ly’s comment about her wanting him to be a doctor was understandable, but it was very harsh.

14. Chia Tay Tinh Dau - Hoai Phuong

I agree entirely with Huynh Thi’s comments, through out the whole song including the change in beat, Hoai Phuong were plain flat. Hoai Phuong is an average singer and performer therefore there are not any thing special about her.

15. Tai Sao? - Trinh Lam

Brilliant lyrics and voice, at that moment I knew Trinh Lam will be either the people’s choice or judges’ choice. Trinh Lam has an intruding tone to his voice which sound professional and practice. Also I thought he was extremely brave to choose his song to perform. I absolutely agree with Duc Huy with Trinh Lam being both a singer and composer.

16. La Do Muon Chieu - Ngo Quang Minh

I didn’t know what to expect from Ngo Quang Minh, but when he sang his voice is very different and unnatural. He did seem very stiff and not comfortable performing; however, I did like him singing in French.

17. Minh Oi - Y Lan

Y Lan’s voice is soft and very easy to the ear, she is so ‘dieu’ which made the song sound brilliant. I love the part in the middle of the song where she stop and dedicated the song to all her fans. I thought it was extremely sweet!

18. Ban Tinh Cuoi - Bang Kieu

Bang Kieu’s ability to control his magnificent voice is very respectable. I must say that his performance was flawless, remember this is ‘live’, he hit all the high notes perfectly and it’s quite hard.

19. Gio Thi Anh Da Biet - Bang Kieu Minh Tuyet

Beautiful song added with great today’s two best vocalist. What more do you want? Bang Kieu and Minh Tuyet sang exceedingly well together; however, don’t they look too close together? Because Bang Kieu’s wife is sitting in the audience and that act that they put on was fresh and funny.

21. Ai Kho Vi Ai – Quynh Dung and Duy Truong

First debut performance on Thuy Nga and they pick a horrible song. I thought that they are both wonderful singer, but the song was just bland and boring. Actually I was surprise when I heard Duy Truong sing because he looks like a pop singer more then a que huong singer.

20. Kai Kich: Nguoi O Thoi Hien Dai - Kieu Oanh,Trang Thanh Lan and Le Tin

Trang Thanh Lan and Le Tin’s poetry battle was so funny I miss Trang Thanh Lan very much, but when Kieu Oanh enters the scene it got even funnier. Her explanation of her Trang Thanh Lan’s hand was hilarious and of how she say their child were abnormal. Overall, I think all three did an amazing job.

21. Khoang Cach - Singer Tran Thai Hoa

Great song and I thought Tran Thai Hoa sang at his best. The song was extravagant and sexy, adding to that is the three couple dancing in the background added a more romantic feeling.

22. Vang Trang Dem Troi - Minh Tuyet

Minh Tuyet sang this song fantastically well, her voice was amazing. This version is officially my favorite, her voice was spectacular and she sang her heart out to all the contestants it was a great way to end the show.

23. Ai Khong Mot Lan Mo - 13 contestants

Overall, I thought Thuy Nga did an amazing job to make the competition enjoyable, mysterious and interesting. If you haven’t watched the show then I recommend it tremendously because it’s a great DVD. There were some mistake made by the MCs and the microphone; however, it’s still a great and amazing show.

Every fan has his/her own so call favorite singer, comedian or any celebrities; they would do anything to make that singer sound admirable and exceptionally better then another. I’m a fan myself; therefore, I have my own personal opinion about singers, but I will not try to bring another singer down to make another sound more desirable. This new running article, Thuy Nga Showdown, will keep on going if I get good comments. Basically I will take 2 singer / comedian / ect. and compare the two in my own opinion, then I will have a poll and let you, fans, to have a chance to express yourself.

Nhu Quynh Vs. Minh Tuyet

For numerous years Minh Tuyet and Nhu Quynh have been two of the most successful oversea female artist. It’s either you love Minh Tuyet or Nhu Quynh; don’t get me wrong that there are many fans that likes them both, like myself, but if you haven’t realize in Thuy Nga’s forum every time there is a showdown between these two fan base someone will get hurt (not literally).

Round 1 – Voice

No doubt that Nhu Quynh has one of today strongest and most beautiful voice in the business. She brings passion and soul into her singing which causes us to fall in love with her magnificent voice. As for Minh Tuyet, her voice is also significantly pleasant and sexy. Minh Tuyet also brings a lot of love and passion into her songs. However I pick Nhu Quynh to win round one; even if both Minh Tuyet and Nhu Quynh have an amazing voice, Nhu Quynh have had so much more experience over her years in the industries.

Round 2 – Looks

Minh Tuyet sizzling and glorious types of clothing interest more of the younger generation. Nhu Quynh always wears Vietnamese traditional ao dai which gives her that sassy and elegant look; which the older generation loves. However, most of Thuy Nga’s viewers are younger generation these days; therefore, round 2 have to go to the glamorous Minh Tuyet.

Final Round – Music

One is known as the queen of que huong while the other is the princess of pop. These two extraordinary ladies have made their way into our heart with their passionate voices and astounding looks. I must say that I can’t seem to pick the winner because they both have their own uniqueness and breathtaking factor that we all love. Therefore I will give you fans the opportunities to vote who you think is the winner.

van quynh – uoc mot ngay review

1. Mot Thoi De Yeu –
The first song of every CD will make or break the listener’s interest to keep listening to the rest of the CD or stop. For me I was very disappointed with Van Quynh for choosing this song; maybe it was too grand for her or that she needed more practice. I would encourage her to pick songs that suite her persona and that will make her voice sound flawless, but it’s great to try new things and I will give her credit for that. Therefore it took me so long to write this review because I gave up on her CD when I listen to this particular song, but I gave her another chance because she is still new.

2. Va Anh Da Di –
I was very please that I gave Van Quynh’s CD another chance because this song proved to me that it was indeed a good CD. I thought Van Quynh did an extremely well with this song; making it her own. Her voice really shows why she is one of today most successful singer.

3. Chia Tay –
I thought the song was well done, but Van Quynh sound like she was screaming the whole time at the beginning of the song. This was very hard and irritating to listen to, however her last note extraordinary.

4. Em Mo –
A soft, sweet and innocent song is not for Van Quynh because it’s very pitchy and her voice is not yet there to sing these kinds of songs. At various moments she sounds like she was running out of air and it hard to listen to. Beside the wild pitch and the breathing I thought she did a well job.

5. Dau Yeu Xua –
Van Quynh did a better job then I expected to do because this is a very hard song to sing to. At some moment she sounds so much like Loan Chau in ‘Bai Tango Xa Roi’. The twist from the chorus in the middle of the song ruined the song for me.

6. Mot Thuo Dai Kho –
Ballad is for Van Quynh, her voice is for ballads because she sound amazing. These types of songs make her voice stand out and it sound astonishing.

7. Di Van Em Dem – ft. Duong Trieu Vu
I don’t really have to say how much I love this song and the chemistry between the two. Fans have agree with me because they did win the best chemistry last year at the Thuy Nga Anniversary Award 2006 for this particular song.

8. Bien Ru Niem Nho –
Van Quynh did an OK job with this song, but I thought she could’ve done much more to make the song her own. I give her credits for trying new things at the middle of the song.

9. Dau Co Loi Lam - ft. Bang Kieu
When they sang this song in PBN 73 (The Best Of Song Ca) I was not a fan of both singer and its hysterical how I’m such a big fan of both of them now. After listening to this song I felt foolish for not being a fan because of how great they sounded together.

10. Mai Xa Nhau –
Great lyrics, music and voice that’s all I can say about this song. I think this is one of her solo song in this CD as well as performance. The song makes her voice sound brilliant and sexy.

11. Tieng Duong Cam –
Not one of my favorite songs of the CD; it was just bland and her voice didn’t stand out much.

12. Uoc Mot Ngay –
I was expecting for the main song of the album to be the best or one of the best song of the CD, but I was eminently disappointed because the song was just plain boring.

13. Words Get In the Way –
Why did she sing this song? It doesn’t flatter her voice yet make it sound amateur.

14. Sweet Dreams – ft. Adam Ho
Cheap rock music!

15. Like The Birds –
She sounded great in PBN 77 (30 Nam Vien Xu) and she sounded even better on this CD. One of my favorite English performance by Van Quynh.

Thoughts:
I thought that this CD was exceptionally good because this is Van Quynh’s first CD. Some songs were splendid and amazing to listen to; the only problem about this CD was that Van Quynh tries so much to not be herself. All the songs choice that was not already performed on PBN was not her style and it made her sound wickedly pitchy. However, I would still recommend it if you are a big Van Quynh’s fan.

Analyzing the song

Thien Duyen Tien Dinh is a sweet ‘love at first sight’ story told by two "lover" - Tu Quyen and Luong Tung Quang - and how fates brought them together when one wants to know about their own fate. Luong Tung Quang is the fortune teller who discovers his lover through trying to read about her fate. The story brings Tu Quyen and Luong Tung Quang together after he sees her; you can say its love at first site. She began to ask him about her life and after many question he tells her that the person of her dream is no one else but him. I thought that it was simply cute when he kneels down to her. She later agree that he is the person of her dream and indeed will marry him; even if he is poor, but all she wants is for someone to fall in love with her inner beauty.

Thoughts
What an excellent song choice for a tet show! I loved the song because of the cute acting from both Tu Quyen and Luong Tung Quang. Tu Quyen has impeccable comedic skills, priceless facial expressions, and a sweet singing voice. The lyrics of Thien Duyen are also very sweet and cute. The song "sounded" good and in fact, the lyrics are quite simple and it is a great thing. It’s an amazing song for tet show because it show how our older generation loves to go see a fortune teller.

a new beginning

First of all I would like to explain about my absent for the past few weeks. I would like to apologize to everyone that is fans of this website - Entertaining You. and that you guys could forgive me for what I have done.

The theme for the site this month is a new beginning; standing for a new, fresh and better website and a new me. After the fanfic incident I have learn a big life lesson and thought that could disappear and hide away from everyone, but I know that would make me feel even lower then I already felted. Therefore, I have been working to make a new and better site; with my own articles and ideas (not using others).
